The two-year prison sentence for Del Somerville, for the crime of throwing a plastic bottle and swearing at police during a protest against the small boats, is genuinely staggering. A blatant example of two-tier justice. It’s almost as if the authorities are deliberately attempting to provoke some sort of civil uprising.

Two years in prison for throwing a plastic bottle and swearing at police. Unacceptable behaviour, sure. But when far more violent criminals routinely receive much less punitive sentences - and sometimes avoid jail completely - how can this be justified?

Nearly 800 illegal migrants arrived by small boat yesterday - the highest number in a single day this year. Calamitous. State. Failure.

There's a great deal of misunderstanding about Nato Article 5. It does *not* oblige member states to provide armed support to a fellow member state which has been attacked. It merely requires each member state, in those circumstances, to "take such action as it deems necessary". This action *may* include the use of armed force. There is a considerable degree of latitude there - almost to the point where the article has little substantive meaning.

The historical mottos of regiments of the British army have included such profound gems as "Death before dishonour", "Where right and glory lead" and "Who dares wins". What might be the motto of the progressive elites in the unlikely event they put on a tin hat and went off to fight? "Proud to be a citizen of nowhere"? "All cultures are equal"? "Be kind"? "Silence is violence"? They'd all look so lovely inscribed on a cap badge!

Russia is failing in the war in the Donbas, says the British foreign secretary. Yet we are also supposed to believe that the Russian military poses a threat to the entire continent of Europe. Surely people can see the inconsistency of these positions?

As usual, those banging the war drums the loudest are the ones least likely to ever be sent to the frontline. In fact, they are the ones I can *least imagine* ever picking up a rifle and confronting the enemy. I loathe these armchair warmongers. Always willing to fight to the last drop of other people's blood.

Let’s be blunt. After several years of economic insecurity, seismic demographic change and asymmetric multiculturalism, native English folk are hunkering down, yearning for the familiar and retreating to their tribe. That’s why ethnicity is now an issue in our politics. It’s sad - but it should hardly come as a surprise.

It's almost like we are living in some parallel world. The idea that millions of young working-class British lads are going to be rushing to enlist to fight in a manufactured war for a ruling class that has spent the past three decades stigmatising and demonising them is just wild. Have our political and military leaders lost their minds? Do they know the slightest thing about the mood inside the country?

Excellent interview with Lib Dem activist @hollowood_zoe, who is opposing a motion to the party's conference calling for the effective overturning of the supreme court ruling on sex and gender. She argues, rightly, that pro-trans activists are incorrectly claiming the ruling and associated guidance are 'unworkable'. They are doing this only because they want to give biological men access to women-only spaces.
