I have said all along that I will work to ensure British Columbians have a serious and stable alternative to the NDP in the next election. Unfortunately, David Eby chose to call an unnecessary election. In response, I have made the decision to return to the Conservative Party of British Columbia to help provide British Columbians with that alternative. After many hours of careful deliberation, I am confident in the direction of the BC Conservatives and in the offering we will put forward to British Columbians in this election under the leadership of Lorne Doerksen. Defeating David Eby and the NDP, and restoring fiscal sanity to British Columbia, remains my priority.

I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Dieter Dudy, a good friend and a man who gave so much to this community. Many will remember Dieter as the founder of Thistle Farms, where his commitment to organic farming reflected the same care and integrity he brought to everything he did. Dieter and I first came to know each other as competitors when he ran against me for Mayor of Kamloops in 2011, but that race became the start of a genuine friendship and working partnership over the years that followed. My thoughts are with his family and everyone who knew and loved him. Kamloops has lost a dedicated community builder, and I’ve lost a good friend.

What is the outcome of the work so far? What will this “advisor” finally learn that we don’t already know?

I was incredibly saddened to hear about the passing of colleague, MLA Joan Phillip. Joan was always very thoughtful, kind, and a tireless advocate for her people. Our deepest condolences to Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, the family, and friends. She will truly be missed.

“according to experts interviewed by Business in Vancouver, those budget numbers appear to contain an apparent accounting error that could cost B.C. billions of dollars.” Here we go again. Another NDP budget with revenue figures we can’t rely on. Worse yet, the govt won’t acknowledge the error. 🤦‍♂️

“The public should be questioning performance bonuses when health care is in a situation that’s never been worse, you have officials in the Ministry of Finance presiding over the worst fiscal situation in B.C. history, you have people working in the Ministry of Solicitor General and Public Safety where public safety has never been a bigger concern for the public,” said Milobar. “The list goes on and on. The average person might be justified in asking what performances are we actually giving a bonus for?”

Longtime Opposition finance critic Peter Milobar, now sitting as an independent MLA, blasted the NDP’s decision as part of a continued push to limit public records, charge onerous fees and exempt decision-makers from scrutiny. “It’s laughable in the extreme they are trying to pin finding a contact email or phone number for somebody to cybersecurity,” Milobar said in an interview.
