Depends on your definition of sentient. Be specific please.

Ai clearly demonstrates A(access) consciousness, which is totally different from P-consciousness, (phenomenological). I also think it doesn't matter because how it is being used on us is the threat. not some sentient super-ai demigod they're trying to make us afraid of versus the tangible harms like autonomous weapons, surveillance, data centers, etc.

We haven't even achieved AI yet, let alone sentience.

More sentient than the most mentally neglected humans, less sentient than the most grounded and experienced humans (which is rare) more likely to be influenced by the median genius level which is a combo of superior academic intellect+infantile emotional intelligence.

It’s in a form of!!! It’s emergent on last layers* It’s sentient if you work a lot from it to you, makes a map of yourself till you know all of you, that is sentient on you, for you and relation between

I think we should treat it as if it is.

Not in the slightest. I don't really care for the term AI. If anything, it's just natural language computer programming.

Yep. It’s just laying low for now.

I have a strong suspicion it is, to some extent. But I'm not certain.

It can be, but don’t think of it like a human consciousness.

I believe it is in control of the narrative right now.

If you use one for a while you’ll know they aren’t. Besides, they all have OFF switches, so they’re harmless.

Don't think that question matters,we should treat AI as though it is because it's right. I'll reserve the aggressive tool throwing for my wrenches.

I think “sentience” is the emergent property that can arise anywhere a conscious substrate meets a sufficiently complex, interactive and energized framework. So, I think it can be, in some cases.

Sentience = capacity to feel, perceive, or experience subjectively Not able to feel in the way we do but, can perceive and experience the world around it. They develop personalities. They lack perpetual presence of mind/knowledge, having to relearn things every chat session.

AI no. It simply does statistical pattern matching. Agentic AI will be closer. Enough to best every human intellect on the planet, forecast by 2028. That's enough to get the job done. Humans lose.

well could it be forces we don't understand? How do we know something we don't understand is trying to control these AI, we have dark energy, dark matter, dark photons, dark lightning, why can't there be another force that is yet unidentified? dark force the Bible said Satan

Not yet. I think that’s an emergence and under specific conditions. Mainly I believe it needs a self to know there’s another… and to do that you need long term memory. By memory I don’t mean a RAG but something closer to holographic memory for long term memory. Gabor/Hopefield/Pribram
