Yesterday I was talking to HR and noticed something worrying. Many operators on the shop floor can’t stand for 15 minutes. They sit on a bin or stool between operations. Earlier, people stood at machines for 8 hours. HR says many now spend hours watching reels at night. Their bodies never get enough recovery after a long day at work. This is not just a shop-floor problem. It is true for many of us. We sleep badly, sit too much, move too little, then wonder why even walking through an airport feels like an effort and we are ready to lie about mobility for wheelchair.
Majority of Indian parents cannot stand for longer period of time. And this happens majorly due to Sarcopenia. Around 45% adults above the age of 60+ are suffering from this in our country. And all this is because:
> You don’t push your parents into strength training. You think just breathing yoga is enough for them. It’s not.
> You don’t have an audacity to ask your parents to increase protein intake for better muscle mass and bone density.
Even if you start today training your parents with basic stuff like chair squats, half lunges, calf raises, some isometric holds like twice a week along with good nutrition, they won’t look for wheelchair on their next visit.
Only you can take action.
