He was dancing on stage at London Pride. Why would he talk about genocide? It wasn't Tel Aviv Pride, where it would be appropriate to talk about the genocide happening a few miles away. You're right of course, the genocide has never paused (and I'm glad you appear to admit the genocide is real): mainly because institutions like the Board of Deputies and Starmer's Labour Party have ensured Israel has had all the political cover in the world as they've killed 20,000 children. But LAST NIGHT, the actual subject of my post, you and he were at an event hosted by the Board of Deputies, which has carried water for Israel during the genocide. The Board suspended swathes of its own Deputies for merely signing up to a letter in the FT criticising Israel's conduct in Gaza. Israel's conduct in Gaza was a focal point of the conversation at last night's hustings. It was an opportunity to ask candidates questions about one of the most important issues of our age. This is an appropriate time to talk about genocide, not at a Pride event. But you asked about hypnoboobs in a "gotcha" style. How many times has he been asked the exact type of question you've asked? What did you want to learn? How many times has he apologised for something that happened thirteen years ago? I know - way more times than Keir Starmer ever did for saying Israel had the right to shut off food, water and energy to Gaza.

Tonight on @C4Dispatches at 11.05pm “Britain’s Gaza secrets exposed”, our latest and 4th film on Gaza since October 7th. Firstly, as ever we must pay tribute to our colleagues in Gaza who risk their lives every day there. Journalists have been targeted and killed in greater proportional numbers than in any other war in history. In Gaza journalism, like healthcare, the subject of our last film, has become a lethal profession. We have spent the last year sifting through hundreds of internal FCDO IHL – (international humanitarian law) – assessments of Israel’s military conduct in Gaza. As those who have not looked away will know, 73,000 people, including at least 21,000 children have been killed in what a special @UN commission and the majority of international experts call a Genocide, which was meant to stop with the ceasefire last year, but which has effectively continued, albeit at a slower, but still regular child killing, pace. So if it is a genocide- what did we, the UK do ? Did we stop it, as is our legal duty if there is a clear risk ? Did we intervene ? Or did we help enable it ? This film looks at what role our own UK government played, through both Conservate and Labour parties, and the process by which the FCDO assesses whether Israel’s military conduct complied with international law. Watch at 11.05pm on channel 4 to find out. I don’t want to give anything away but the process led to less than a handful of incidents, out of the many hundreds it examined, most with graphic video evidence, being described as possible war crimes.
