There is no IQ so high that will allow us to outrun the primal tribalistic brain
Reading some of Gerard ’t Hooft's "The Cellular Automaton Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics"
Chapter 1 is incredible for many reasons. These poor academics have been abused by each other -- even this guy who won a Nobel Prize has to apologize every few paragraphs, pleading for the reader not to consider him a crackpot or an amateur. He's like "I absolutely must signal that I'm IN the club, guys!"
What's tragic/hilarious is that in order for real philosophical work to be done, it requires sounding like dirty amateur physicists -- rejecting the Copenhagen Interpretation and suggesting we should *discretize space itself*!
This is obviously what's needed, but it vindicates all the unwashed crackpots and cranks to some extent, which is why poor Hooft has to signal he's not part of the laity.
Get a load of this paragraph:
"When will we discover that everything in the physical world will eventually be discrete? This would be the discrete, deterministic world underlying our present theories. In this scenario, quantum mechanics as we know it, is the imperfect logic resulting from an incomplete discretization."
Lol and then the footnote
"As I write this, I expect numerous letters by amateurs, but beware, as it would be easy to propose some completely discretized concoction, but it is very hard to find the right theory, one that helps us to understand the world as it is using rigorous mathematics."
Ah right. So yes, yes child, the Copenhagen interpretation might be bullshit, space might end up needing to be discretized after all -- and 99% of the philosophical criticism of the amateurs might be warranted -- but you see if you don't play the "rigorous mathematics" game, it doesn't count.
