They actually succeeded in making this a thing lmao, and are still sticking with it despite being exposed for telling a massive complex of โgraveโ lies in 2021.
Virtually all attendance at schools was voluntarily supported by impoverished, hyper-violent high-mortality nomadic tribals which recognized the value of education, and no they were not โIndigenousโ notice the capitalization.
It was various deeply split mixed Siberian-European, recent (shallow) offshoot tribal colonies of recent migratory incursion into successive land areas of the colonization trajectory, all ultimately a very brief simultaneous migratory lineage.
They recognized that industrial-sedentary society was a desirable evolution of humans/people and did not fear progress, as they observed it across actual native inhabitants/relations/convergences across Canadian lands. If you observe that others already there before you (in virtually all land areas) have stitched together a civilization and state from their individual relations, with vastly better quality of life, you become curious. You ask yourself โneed I exist through theft and violence?โ
The people today donโt fear progress either, they just recognize a strategy that if they were born on a reserveโland held by and created per the first concept of ownership introduced by the Federal government, based on actual distribution of ancestral inhabited land area (village sites, etc)โand attended an Indian Residential School, that they can bait people into providing โcompensationโ for education, aka absolutely nothing.
And this โcompensationโ has morphed into a palingenetic larp ideology of mass-land theft, property theft, and cash theft interests.
You can easily identify the larp by the fact that those Euro-Siberian hunters marching with him do not descend from tribes with feather headdressesโthat was appropriated from the Sioux hunter-colonists.
For more than a century, Canada ran residential schools. Over 150,000 Indigenous children were taken from their families and their communities and forced to attend these schools.
Survivors carried the truth when this country would not. What we do with these truths is our responsibility.
This morning in Edmonton, we gathered to honour the Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and stand with the families and communities who carry that loss.
