Let’s talk IMMIGRATION since some Canadians latched to Trump’s post to voice their frustration. “Millions and millions” is an exaggeration. Yes there was a surge to 480,000/year under Trudeau but since last year it’s been reduced significantly. But let’s talk immigration !!! 1- Canada is a country with a long-standing immigration-based population and economic model, with immigration accounting for a large share of population growth. 2- Firtility rate is 1.26, lower than the 2.1 needed for its population to replace itself. We are an aging society. 3- unless you are an indigenous Canadian, you are an immigrant or of an immigrant descent! So the word “immigration” should not be used as a negative connotation. 4- the problem is not immigration or the number of immigrants. It’s the selection! Who do we need as new Canadian? For the sake of Canada, and for the well being of new Canadians! 5- most immigrants contribute very positively to Canadian growth and prosperity. I am an immigrant! A proud one! I came here as an adult, studied, worked hard, paid my taxes. I have a family with kids, one serving in the armed forces, and one in trades. I raised them with the Charter of Rights in mind. Taught them what it really means to be Canadian! And I know MANY who have contributed the same. 6- that said, and I will be honest, there are some immigrants who cheat the system and abuse it. And that’s where the selection plays a part. That’s where we have a weakness and the liberals failed to fix it. But that said, I wouldn’t label all immigrants - cause let’s face it many non-immigrant Canadians also cheat the system and abuse it!! 7- when there is an issue, dig deeper as to where the real issue is and how to fix it it.
