AI has infested the Christian art world (it’s everywhere, but particularly bad here). If you google “Jesus art” it’s 1000+ pages of generated slop from various models. Good luck finding Da Vinci or Gustave Dore! More than ever, sacred artists must be convinced of the concept of the Imitation of God (Imitatio Dei) in their work. Why do we think it’s important to physically paint, draw, write? Is there an aspect of soul in connection with body that translates to our artwork? These are questions we are catalyzed to confront in this age. It’s also easy to get disheartened by dropshippers who upload a trillion ai products and rake in unsuspecting grandmas, while you’re meticulously drawing an art piece. I see it as an opportunity to connect on an even more human level, and dig deeper into my “reason”. Obviously this isn’t the first time an industrial tool has taken the place of craftsmanship, but fresh ideas emerging from the human soul will always be needed to breathe life into the world. I would also love you hear thoughts on this from my fellow artists “And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us.” Ps. 90:17
