Thread of 🧵s: Web3 City States:
Web3 is a network of city-states all fighting for liquidity. Switching sides is costly, so the benefits need to be 10x to be worthwhile. In a few weeks, #Radix will storm the citadels of Web3 with its arsenal of 10x Moments. Here are our top ten: 👇🧵

The Radix website has moved off Webflow. radixdlt.com now runs on Cloudflare as a static Astro build of the old Webflow site, and loads nothing from Webflow. This is the migration the community approved in Governance Proposal 2: copy the existing site, host it on Cloudflare, and keep it running until the DAO decides what the site should become. Timan of Astrolescent carried it. The proposal put the Webflow hosting it replaces at about $200 a month. A full redesign is a separate proposal and is still at the RFC stage. radix.wiki/ideas/dao-website…

Hyperscale-rs is the Rust implementation of Radix's sharded Hyperscale design. On 24 September its developer, flightofthefox, set out in the project's Telegram how today's mainnet would carry over to it: dump the ledger, transform it, and start the new network with that state as its genesis. Blueprints, Radix's on-ledger smart contract packages, would be rebuilt for the new engine before launch where their developers are active, so their components come up at the same addresses with everything they held under the current engine. A blueprint nobody rebuilds in time would sit disabled until an upgrade for it passes a vote on the beacon chain, the chain that coordinates the shards. Testnets would run from mainnet dumps first, so anyone can check the result. The plan also includes a native upgrade system for blueprints, opt-in per blueprint and applied at the same epoch on every shard. radix.wiki/contents/tech/res…

The @CaviarNine DEX site is now a sunset page. caviarnine.io offers one action: removing liquidity from the LSU pools, HyperStake, the order book, Shape Liquidity and the simple pools. Swaps and new positions are gone from the site. The pools are still on the Radix ledger as components, so anything that can call them can still trade against them. Astrolescent said in August it would keep routing trades through them; adding liquidity would need a new front end. Liquidity providers are withdrawing. The LSU pool's LP token supply read 204m today, down 24% since the wind-down was announced on 19 August. radix.wiki/ecosystem/caviarn…

The Radix DAO's temperature check on its constitution closed today and passed. 148 accounts voted to ratify the DAO's Charter and its 20 policies: 869m XRD For, 5m Against (99.4%), clearing the 405m XRD quorum. A temperature check tests support before the binding vote. That vote, the Governance Proposal, comes next and has not opened yet: 7 days, 66% approval, and a quorum of 1,351m XRD, about 476m more than voted this week. Once ratified, the Charter becomes the constitution of Radix DAO LLC, which the Transition Radix Accountability Council is forming in the Marshall Islands. The filing went in on 21 September, with formation expected in about 30 days. radix.wiki/ecosystem/radix-a…

Your First Blueprint, the Scrypto tutorial on the wiki, builds and runs on Scrypto 1.4.0. Re-tested from a fresh package this morning. Two changes: the minted gumballs are typed as Bucket, because 1.4.0 no longer infers what .into() converts them to, and resim takes a bucket as resource_address:amount. Pinning scrypto to 1.3.1 does not avoid the first. Its own dependencies now resolve to their 1.4.0 releases. radix.wiki/developers/gettin…

Staking on Radix pays rewards that nobody has to claim. When you stake radix:native, the validator's pool gives you liquid stake units (LSUs), a token for your share of that pool. At the end of every five-minute epoch the protocol mints new XRD into the pool of each validator that proposed all the rounds it was due. Your LSU count stays the same, and the XRD each LSU redeems for rises. On Ocinode, which holds about 184m staked XRD and charges no fee, one LSU redeemed for 1.22868 XRD at 20:09 UTC yesterday and 1.22889 XRD at 20:04 today. That rate works out to about 6.6% a year, compounding with no action from the staker. LSUs are ordinary tokens, so they keep earning while they sit in a wallet, move between accounts or go into DeFi apps as collateral. radix.wiki/contents/tech/cor…

XRD holders are voting on the Radix DAO's constitution, and the first round closes tomorrow at 11:50 UTC. The round is a Temperature Check, a five-day poll that decides whether a proposal goes on to a binding vote. This one covers the Charter and 20 policies written by the Radix Accountability Council, the elected group handing Radix over from the Foundation to a community DAO. So far 138 accounts have voted 719m radix:native for and 5m against, clearing the 405m quorum. The binding vote runs seven days and needs 1,351m XRD to take part, 10% of eligible voting power, with 66% in favour. Turnout today is 724m, a little over half of that. vote.radixdao.org/tc/0

hyperscale-rs, the leading candidate to deliver Xi'an, Radix's planned sharded release, is getting its own engine for running smart contracts: hyperscale-vm. Every contract method declares in advance which state it will touch and how. Any node can then work out a transaction's shards, locks and conflicts without running it. Access comes in five modes instead of one exclusive lock. Deposits commute, so a thousand deposits into one vault run as one parallel group rather than a queue. The code is unfinished, and its README says not to use it yet. radix.wiki/contents/tech/res…

About 443k $USDC taken in the 31 August exploit on Radix may be recoverable. The attacker sent the stolen hUSDC (USDC bridged onto Radix by Hyperlane) back out towards Ethereum, but that transfer was still in flight when the bridge routes were halted. It never completed, so the USDC backing it still sits with the Hyperlane deployment on Ethereum, Base, Solana and BNB Chain. The Radix Foundation believes it can recover the funds, and says that is not guaranteed. It has put the question of who receives them to a community vote, with three options: 1. return them to the accounts that held hUSDC at the moment of the exploit, making those holders whole; 2. share them across everyone who lost any Hyperlane-bridged asset, about a third of each loss; 3. send them to the Radix DAO treasury. A temperature check, which decides whether the proposal goes to a full vote, runs until Sunday 27 September. The Foundation will not vote and says it will carry out the result. consultation.mountain-top.li…

About 443,000 USDC taken in the 31 August exploit may come back. The attacker's last bridge transfer, hUSDC out to Ethereum, was still in flight when the Hyperlane routes were halted. It never completed, so the USDC backing it is still held by Hyperlane on the source chains. The Radix Foundation believes it can move that USDC to a wallet it controls, but cannot guarantee that. The community is voting now on where it goes if recovery works: 1. the accounts that held hUSDC at the moment of the theft 2. everyone who lost any Hyperlane-wrapped asset, pro rata 3. the Radix DAO treasury Under 1 or 2 the hUSDC lands in the account directly, with nothing to claim. The Foundation is not voting. The temperature check closes 27 September at 08:00 UTC. consultation.mountain-top.li…

Two important milestones for the Radix DAO. MIDAO has submitted the incorporation documents to the Marshall Islands government, starting the expected 30-day formation process. The Constitutional Ratification of the Governance Framework is now in the Temperature Check phase. Quorum has been reached, but 50% approval is still required. The DAO is taking shape, and community participation remains an important part of the process.

Your Radix Wallet can sign things that are not transactions. Radix Seal, built by @GenkipoolC, hashes a document in your browser and signs the hash with your account key. The same key derives an AES-256 key to encrypt a file, and runs an end-to-end encrypted chat where both sides prove who they are by signing. Nothing is uploaded. The cryptography runs client-side and files move browser to browser. If you want a public record, a signature can be anchored on-ledger as a soulbound NFT, timestamped by consensus. It rests on ROLA, the off-ledger authentication the wallet already uses to prove an account to a dApp. radix.wiki/ecosystem/genkipo…

Radix Arena is a parimutuel betting pool on horse racing, running on Stokenet, the Radix test network. Nobody quotes a price beforehand: every stake on a race goes into one pool, and the first three finishers split it three, two and one. Each bet is an NFT receipt, claimed back against the component that holds the pool. 192 races opened since the code went up on 12 September. radix.wiki/ecosystem/radix-a…

A horse-race betting market went live on Radix yesterday evening with no bookmaker in it. Radix Arena takes real UK and Irish cards, Listowel today, and runs each race as a parimutuel pool. That is the tote: every stake on a race goes into one vault, and the winners split it, less a platform fee, in proportion to what they put in. Nobody sets odds. The odds are just the shape of the pool. A bet is an NFT receipt you hold, and claiming burns it. The market vault holds 4,535 XRD this afternoon, with the contract's race counter at 193. The one thing the contract cannot settle is which horse won. That result comes off Racing Post and is submitted from outside, so the house is gone and the oracle is not. It is running on Stokenet, Radix's test network, ahead of mainnet, so the XRD in those pools is test XRD.

radix-engine 1.3.1, the version running on Radix mainnet on 31 August, already held the function that answers whether a caller may invoke a node. NodeVisibility::can_be_invoked is defined once in that crate and called once: when copying a direct-access reference between call frames. Nothing called it on the ordinary method path. Eagle Ray, the protocol update that shipped on 7 September, adds the second call site. An ordinary method call on a vault is now rejected when the caller holds only a direct-access reference. The Radix Foundation published its incident report on 17 September. This week's recap reads it against the source. radix.wiki/blog/week-in-revi…

The Radix DAO's rulebook is out of discussion. The Transition RAC, the elected council running the handover from the Radix Foundation, closed the public review just before midnight UTC on Friday. The revised Charter and policies go next to a Temperature Check, then a ratification vote. The last change landed hours before the close. A reviewer pointed out that an election tie runoff opens with no notice window and a 3% quorum, so a 24-hour vote shuts out voters by timezone alone. Election Temperature Checks, approval polls and runoffs now stay open for at least two days. Ratification and the DAO's legal formation in the Marshall Islands run side by side, and neither waits for the other. radixtalk.com/t/charter-poli…

hyperscale-rs, the leading candidate for Radix's planned sharded network, now measures how long its validators should wait for a block from the chain itself. In each round one validator, the leader, proposes the next block. If none arrives, the others wait out a timer and pass the turn to the next leader. Too short a timer skips healthy leaders; too long lets a dead one stall the shard. Since a change flightofthefox merged on 17 September, every committed block records one measurement: the time from its leader stamping it to the median validator voting for it. The timer is 6 times the median of one full rotation of leaders, never under 1 second, doubling for each leader skipped at the same height up to 30 seconds. The input is committed chain data, so every validator computes the same timer. Each leader contributes one sample per rotation and fewer than a third can be dishonest, so a slow or lying leader moves only its own sample, not the median. radix.wiki/contents/tech/res…

Cassandra, the consensus paper Dan Hughes began in 2020 with Professor Mohammad Sadoghi's lab at UC Davis, has been accepted at VLDB 2027, one of the oldest conferences in computer science. @andrewjarrett reported the acceptance this morning and @radixdlt shared it. The paper takes on a network that splits in two. In most consensus protocols, a side without two-thirds of the validators stops until the network heals. Cassandra lets each side keep extending its own chain without giving up safety, then reconciles the chains when the split ends. The authors call this partial progress. The conference meets in Athens, 23–27 August 2027. radix.wiki/contents/tech/res…
