Another productive discussion with @EDA_ONT’s leadership and @Rae_Matt on our plan to cut regulatory red tape continue making generational investments in new generation, transmission and storage, as we prepare our grid for rising electricity demand. Given the broader imperative to protect Ontario's economy, we also discussed our intention to enhance procurement policies to buy and build more Ontario-made.

It was great meeting with the Ontario Forest Industries Association alongside Minister @KevinHollandMPP during National Forest Week.🌲 Ontario’s forestry sector plays an important role in supporting good-paying jobs, rural and northern development, and our province’s economy. We had a great discussion about keeping the sector competitive, supporting future growth, and leveraging Ontario’s energy advantage.

At the very time that our economy is under attack, we just started construction on one of Canada's largest clean energy projects creating 30,500 new jobs. A decade ago, the Liberals planned to close the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, turning their backs on thousands of workers and their families. As we look to the future, Ontario proudly stood with those very workers to announce a plan to protect their jobs and create new ones for another 38 years.

For over 45 years, Terry Fox continues to inspire millions of people around the world in the fight against cancer. It was great to join the Terry Fox Run in Stratford yesterday. Thank you to all the runners and walkers for continuing to raise funds for cancer research.

I’m disgusted by the shooting that took place outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville earlier this evening as Jewish community members gathered to mark Yom Kippur. My thoughts are with the Jewish community in Belleville and across Ontario, who have every right to gather and worship safely and without fear. I expect that all those responsible are arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. My thoughts are also with the police officer who was shot, along with their family and loved ones. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to this brave officer and to all the first responders who acted so quickly to keep the community safe.

I want to wish Jewish communities across Ontario a meaningful Yom Kippur. On this holiest day in the Jewish calendar, may this time of reflection, prayer and renewal bring peace and hope to all those observing. G’mar Chatima Tova.
