You win the prize for the most irrelevant tweet of the morning (so far). Is it an Everton thing?

Neil keeps using the examples of Marine Le Pen and Giorgia Meloni. Neither are campaigning or pushing for their respective countries to leave the EU.

It's very relevant. Leavers everywhere have been quoting your question time video saying the EU is about to collapse. It won't. Just as it didn't when Leavers warned it would after Britain left. Not even Leavers say Brexit has gone well, but as usual we prefer stupidity.

He’s missed my point too. He argues that the rise of the populist right makes today’s EU less attractive to rejoin. But even Europe’s nationalist right wants to pursue its agenda from within the EU rather than leave. Surely that’s relevant to whether EU membership is the problem?

Where did he say it was about to collapse? He said it was different and likely to become more different over time than the one we left. But he never said it would collapse. How can we have debate when folk like you make stuff up?

Read what I said again. I said that many leavers are sharing what he said claiming yet again that the EU is on the verge of collapse. It isn't just like there was no domino effect after Britain left (as leavers claimed there would be). The EU will evolve. That's not a bad thing

You presumably want to rejoin the EU regardless of how shit a deal we get and regardless of the terms we rejoin under and you talk about stupidity on the Leavers side.

Usual leaver rhetoric. Money talks and Britain could get a better deal than we have now. But you're almost admitting there that you know what we lost.

Probably best direct your rebuttal to those who are saying that then, instead of replying to someone who isn’t making that claim.

It won't collapse - people are indifferent to it ... The EU election turnouts across the membership states are pretty poor ... British turnouts when we were in it - were dismal....

Do you travel much? I do. And it is always so obvious when I come back to the UK how badly we are doing in comparison. Our city centres look third world now compared to so many across Europe

The EU won’t collapse because it will spend billions of other countries money to ensure the pain would be too great to think about. It’ll just get more and more irrelevant as the US, China out perform it. It’ll get poorer (although EU bureaucrats won’t) and still be so full of its own importance that it won’t give a shite as individual European countries decline and decay to pay for it.

I'm a leaver, I can explain why we don't need the EU Our GDP has beaten the EU top countries So tell us why it's failed and why we need the EU

But when it comes to exporting Andrew being outside of the EU means we are a rule taker. We don’t get to chose what regulations are made for car manufacturers wanting to sell into Europe for example.

The key points AN was making are linked and nothing to do with “ collapse” which he never mentioned. ; ie that the UK’s growth ( though pathetic) is larger than that of its 3 biggest rivals in EU therefore how would rejoining ( on poorer terms than we left) boost growth?

So the vast majority of economists are wrong and eurosceptic journalist Neil is right? The UK's growth figures that Neil picked from 2021 are largely higher because we slumped more in the pandemic therefore rebounded more. Those countries were also hit harder by the war/energy.

Furthermore the whole politics of European governments is changing and swing to the right - this will inevitably impact on the whole project and probably not in a way Remoaners would like.! “Simples” as he often says!

I'm pro-EU (because I travel to Europe regularly and see first hand how the standard of life is better there while the UK has declined). I'm also anti-mass immigration so it's not bad if Europe tightens it's borders. Those parties are bad though as they're corrupt/Russian backed

It will collapse, the AFD will be in power in Germany, National Rally in France…and others. The German economy is already collapsing and the German economy is everything. Add to that the fact that the EU are just anti-democracy bureaucrats that can’t govern anything let alone rescue a failing Continent, and they’ve removed all sovereignty so a country can’t act independently, can’t even rescue itself. The European Union will be gone within 5 years
