🚨 Breaking: DHS lifted the funding freeze on Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, and Sister Norma Pimentel announced it on September 25, 2026 at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin. The ban had been imposed last November after an audit found grant violations, including inconsistent migrant data and billing beyond the 45 day federal limit.
