Someone who has worked and paid taxes for 40 years should know the system will be there when they lose their job. Someone fit to work should be expected to find one. @KemiBadenoch’s proposal gives people six months on full benefits to find work. After that, their record of work and contribution counts. People who genuinely cannot work because of serious illness or disability remain protected. That is fair to those who need help and those who pay for it.

The Scottish Government cannot tell us how many patients missed out on thrombectomy due to the lack of 24/7 service. The Government must find this out, and collect it annually. The state must know the scale of the problem before it can fix it.

The SNP’s drugs policy is a disgrace. 1,133 people died last year, up 11%, and John Swinney’s answer is to press for decriminalising possession of all drugs including Class A drugs.
