Stop saying Dolly Parton was a national treasure! There are kids here in Hull in Yorkshire who can read because of her. She was a global treasure.

National was always too small for her. Dolly did not just write the songs people grew up on. She put books in children’s hands in places that had never met her, including kids in Hull who learned to read because somebody in Tennessee decided literacy should travel. That is not hometown pride. That is a global treasure who treated other people’s children like they mattered.

True story. I was talking with someone from Saskatchewan, Canada about Dolly. She lives way up North away from the Urban centers (2 hours from Saskatoon). And her children got Dolly Parton books delivered to them.

A reminder of the quiet power of kindness. Moved by the letter Dolly Parton sent to @eminem, we created this mixed-media origami short film to honor her grace, warmth, and lasting impact. Rest easy, Dolly. ❤️ We miss and love you. Full short & more stories on YouTube: youtube.com/@DecodedIntelNet…

Everyone is welcome to partake in Dolly Parton Day, sadly it really only works with the American date system MM/DD/YY, 9/25, September 25 Why not make it a global literacy and music holiday

I was very pleased to see the response from the UK about her. She was an amazing individual that truly was a world citizen. Millions of books for children. What a heart.

She gave kids books, probably some who became astronauts, some who became teachers, kids who became writers. Therefore, she’s a UNIVERSAL TREASURE.

Say whatever you want to celebrate her! But why tell others what not to say. Yes, she had amazing global reach and appeal, but she was also distinctly American and it’s okay to recognize and celebrate that

Best argument I have read in a long time. I concede. You are right. The world lost a valuable asset. She will be missed by many. Someone should fill her place ASAP.
