Unfortunately, I’ve had to leave Calais.
When I travelled to Calais last Friday, I was actually supposed to be on a plane to Ibiza with my daughter and my friends.
But I’m not exactly an ordinary woman, am I? 😂
Instead of heading off for sunshine, cocktails and a holiday, I decided I wanted to come to Calais and document what was happening for myself.
And honestly? Chasing the truth was far more fun for me. 😂
I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay. I wanted to keep documenting, keep showing what I was seeing and keep telling the truth about what is happening here.
And of course, I’ve had to leave at one of the most exciting times. I literally had to leave when the boats were only hours away from launching.
Believe me, I did NOT want to go.
But sometimes, even when you’re determined to keep going, you have to remember what matters most.
I’m a mother first.
So unfortunately, Calais, I’ve had to say goodbye for now.
But I’ve got plenty more to show you. 🇬🇧
No surrender. Truth needs a voice.
