I'm not sure I follow. Does the city of Calgary not send out water bills based on usage? Is there not a line on resident's tax bills for water maintenance? If so, why is the system in disrepair? Did that money not get earmarked for a specific purpose, or did it just go into general revenue to be frittered away by subsequent mayors and city councils on non-water spending? Does this mean that the system has been neglected, thus leaving it unsafe for residents? That sounds like a dereliction of one of the foundational responsibilities of municipal government. Sounds like you've got some questions to answer, Squinty.

I’m not going to lie to you, Calgary. Our water pipes are in piss poor condition. And after a 10-year freeze, we have to increase our water rates to make the system safe.
