Team Biggs had the honor of hearing from Margy Bons, a Gold Star Mother, whose son Michael A. Marzano was killed in action in 2005.
Margy started Military Assistance Mission (M.A.M.) - the same initials as her son. M.A.M. provides financial assistance and moral aid to Arizona military service members, their families, and wounded heroes. She also worked with the State Legislature to create a Gold Star license plate.
We salute this tremendous woman and how she has risen above a horrific trial in her life to accomplish much good for many others around her.

My prayers are with the family members of Jim Copenhaver, as they grieve his loss. His passing should serve as continued motivation to provide sufficient answers and closure for the investigation into the attempted assassination of President Trump in Butler, where two innocent lives have now been lost.
To that end, I introduced two pieces of legislation in the aftermath of this tragedy. The first being the Secret Service Prioritization Act of 2024 to refocus United States Secret Service efforts on its protective mission. The second was a resolution to require DHS to hand over all documents, records, and communications to Congress regarding the Secret Service’s handling of the July 13 rally.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Copenhaver, who was gravely wounded in the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Jim endured unimaginable hardship with strength and perseverance.
We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and praying for them during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

Middle East: Due to tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation. Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance and be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports. This military conflict has the potential to escalate rapidly. Americans outside the Middle East should seriously reconsider travel to and through the region. Those who do travel to or from the region should monitor information about airport and airline operations. U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions. Arizona, and in fact the entire Basin, is in a drought condition. We can't conserve our way out of this crisis. We have to take very careful steps to rebuild and save the entire basin. We also want to secure Arizona's long-term future.
That's why I've introduced the Colorado River Basin Water Security and Infrastructure Act. It's imperative that we pass this legislation out of Congress and send it to the President's desk. Time is of the essence for the people who rely on the life-giving water of the Colorado River.
