This is exactly why the House passed the bipartisan DETERRENT Act.
The Senate must pass this to protect our colleges and universities from foreign influence.
Federal officials are investigating Duke University and the University of North Dakota over concerns about foreign funding.
For Duke, the concerns aren’t new. Chairman @RepWalberg previously pressed the university over its partnership with Wuhan University and raised questions about taxpayer-funded research, sensitive technology, and ties to Chinese government-linked entities.
Americans deserve to know who is funding our colleges.

I fully support capping coaches pay at tax-payer subsidized public universities. (We pay our top 4 star military generals about $250,000.) May be difficult to get it into the bill at this point, but college athletics is not the free market. It’s a highly subsidized public good and should be regulated like one. 🇺🇸
Sen. Cory Booker, with Sen. Chris Murphy, has filed an amendment to the Protect College Sports Act to cap coaching salaries at $5 million a year, per a copy obtained by @YahooSports.
It is one of 35+ amendments filed. Most of them have little chance of being accepted.

They won’t say it out loud, but all of the Presidents and ADs want college coaches pay capped as well. Curt Cignetti is worth way more than the cap, but LeBron James is also worth way more to the NBA than his capped salary. The reason Congress allows salary caps in pro sports is to maintain competitive balance. Eventually Congress will have to take similar significant steps to keep college sports balanced and sustainable. A coaches salary cap would help stem the college athletics arms race and also open up more opportunities for younger coaches as the top guys hit the cap and choose to go coach on the NFL/NBA.🇺🇸

At my direction, we worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland, and the United States of America. "The American people need transparency and need to understand what is going on in this public policy discussions and whether it's podcast hosts, certain actors on social media, or things going on our college campuses," Baumgartner said. "We need to know who's behind it and what their motivations are."
