North Carolina’s ports play a unique role in our state’s economy, bringing in supplies and materials while exporting North Carolina agriculture and manufactured products around the world.   This week, I met with SSA Marine to discuss operations at the Ports of Wilmington and Morehead City and opportunities to support continued growth at both facilities.

This evening, with strong bipartisan support, the House passed the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026. This legislation delivers critical investments in our nation's ports, waterways, flood protection, and water infrastructure — including multiple projects vital to flood and disaster resilience in communities across NC-07.

Over 65,000 truck drivers call North Carolina home, keeping our shelves stocked, businesses running, and goods moving across our state and country. Trucking supports 1 in 15 jobs in North Carolina, and 85% of communities rely exclusively on trucks to move their goods. This National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, I’m especially grateful to the hardworking men and women behind the wheel who keep North Carolina moving. Thank you for all you do!

My grandparents played a large role in my life, and I'm grateful for the lessons and values they passed to me, especially the importance of integrity and hard work.    Today, on National Grandparents Day, I’m thankful for all the incredible grandparents helping shape the next generation!

Today, I joined the Saint James community for their 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to honor those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001. The ceremony was a meaningful moment of reflection on the brave first responders, law enforcement officers, and individuals who ran into unimaginable danger to save their fellow man. May we never forget their selfless courage and heroism.

Twenty-five years later, September 11, 2001, remains a solemn reminder of the resilience of the American people and the strength of our nation.   Today, we remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, honor the brave Americans who ran toward unimaginable danger, and all who answered the call to serve in the years that followed.   September 11 showed us the courage, unity, and resilience of the American people.   Twenty-five years later, and for all the years to come, we will never forget.

One year ago, they took the man. They did not take the mission. Rest in peace, Charlie. We will not be silent.
