I was delighted to celebrate 73 years of the United States—Republic of Korea alliance. Following the staggering loss of American and South Korean troops in the Korean War, the Eisenhower Administration forged the US-ROK Mutual Defense Treaty. President Eisenhower wrote that “the security of an individual nation in the free world depends upon the security of its partners.” I was especially grateful to Master Yang, our local VFWs, and our Korean-American community for organizing this event in North Wales — a strong reminder of our duty to uphold that very same commitment to long-lasting peace.

September is National Recovery Month — a chance to advocate for education, prevention, and treatment. An opportunity to remind people that recovery is possible. 💜 My family knows that firsthand. I am so proud of my son, Harry, who is 14 years in active recovery and who now brings that hope and joy to those struggling with the disease of addiction. It is the beautiful, clear foundation of our nation, and a constant reminder of my pledge to uphold its freedoms. On Friday, Montgomery County rededicated an extraordinary 9/11 memorial by sculptor Sassona Norton — two hands clasping a steel beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. This beautiful sculpture was moved to Elmwood Park, with the help of many dedicated volunteers, to be more accessible to Montco residents. 25 years after 9/11, it is our duty to bring the horrors of that day, and the profound sense of unity that followed, to the forefront of our collective memory.

The American people are fed up with the President's false promises.

25 years since the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. Yet we can recall with intense clarity where we were when we learned of the unfathomable horrors of 9/11.   Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 beautiful lives stolen and their families forever mourning.   We honor the more than 400 first responders — patriots — who ran toward danger to help those in need. And we never forget.

Hunger is rising in Montgomery County — children, seniors, veterans, and families not knowing if they have enough food to eat. As SNAP and Medicaid cuts threaten nutrition and peace of mind for our most vulnerable, I am grateful for the urgent efforts of our food pantries, including the Mattie N. Dixon Community Cupboard, Inc. in Ambler. Thank you to their team, the MontCo Anti-Hunger Network, Philabundance, and Montgomery County, PA officials for persistently and compassionately looking out for our neighbors.
