We need to add processing capacity for American ranchers to meet the high demand for beef. More processing options benefit both producers and consumers.

I have consistently opposed policies that increase foreign beef imports at the expense of American cattle producers. I have raised these concerns with the White House several times, and my position has not changed. American cattlemen have worked hard to rebuild the nation’s herd and meet consumer demand. They should not have to shoulder the burden of polices that put additional pressure on their markets.

Rural America can be where the next generation of innovation and economic growth takes place. I spoke at the Midwest Agricultural Export Summit in Sioux Falls about the opportunities ahead for South Dakota producers to expand into new markets, compete in the global economy, and grow rural communities.

The South Dakota School of Mines will receive $25 million in federal funding to help strengthen America’s critical minerals workforce. South Dakota students will play a leading role in the race to surpass China in critical minerals production, building the workforce we need to secure our supply chains and strengthen American manufacturing.
