Ranking Member @RepGregoryMeeks met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly High Level Week. They discussed Ukraine's urgent air defense needs amid continued Russian strikes, and efforts to advance a U.S.-Ukraine drone deal and other co-production opportunities that would deepen defense-industrial ties between the two countries. Ranking Member Meeks reiterated his commitment to pushing Congress to deliver additional military and economic support to Ukraine without delay.

A zip code should never determine a child’s ability to grow up healthy. Today, I celebrated the opening of Arverne’s new Pediatric Dental Services, made possible in part by the $1.5 million in federal funding I secured. This investment will expand access to essential pediatric services and give kids and families the opportunity to receive high-quality care closer to home.

America was wounded, but even in our darkest moment—we prevailed because of our ability to come together as Americans with resiliency, compassion, and civic duty. The Trump DHS' latest attempt to pit Americans against one another is not only bigoted but also entirely un-American. Sowing division doesn't make us stronger. It weakens our communities.   I stand in solidarity with the Sikh community and the thousands of Sikh neighbors, friends, and workers who call #NY05 home. You belong here.

Every NYC Mayor has attended 9/11 remembrance ceremonies to pay their respects to those we lost on September 11, 2001. Mayor Mamdani has the same right and should pay his respects and stand alongside New Yorkers as the city remembers.    This is a moment when political differences are set aside to make room for unity. On the 25th anniversary of those devastating events, let us continue our solemn tradition of coming together to honor the survivors, the families of lost loved ones, and the courageous first responders who ran into unknown danger to save lives.

The American workforce is at the heart of our nation’s progress. Today, we recognize those workers and unions who drive our economy and help make #NY05 and our country stronger every day. Happy Labor Day!
