I came to Washington to fight for more paid family leave – and in 2021, Congress granted 12 weeks of paid leave to all members of our armed services. But the 6,000 members serving in the Commissioned Corps of the US Public Health Service weren't included. Last week, my bill passed and that oversight was rectified. Now members of the USPHS are now entitled to the same leave benefits provided to officers of the armed forces.
