As fall begins, we mark National Farm Safety and Health Week. This week recognizes the importance of safe agricultural practices as our farmers begin the harvest season across Indiana. According to @BLS_gov, agriculture remains the most dangerous industry nationwide. By prioritizing farm safety, we can all do our part to ensure Indiana agriculture remains a beacon of safe industry practice.

Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We honor those who endured captivity as prisoners of war and those who remain missing in action. As a combat-injured veteran, I know the true cost of going into battle. America needs warriors willing to sacrifice everything in defense of our freedom and liberty. Today, we remember their courage and sacrifice, and the families who still carry the pain of their absence.

It was my immense honor to join everyone in Plainfield for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. As a Vietnam vet, I was profoundly moved to experience this with my fellow Hoosiers. Too many Vietnam veterans returned home without the welcome they deserved. The names on this Wall remind us of those who never made it back and assure their families their courage won’t be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who visited and paid tribute. We will always carry their memory with us.

At Tuesday’s hearing, @RepJimBaird asked how outdated weather and rainfall data can affect farmers—from costly planning decisions and uninsured losses to infrastructure built to the wrong standard.   He also asked how USDA and NOAA can work together to ensure farmers and communities have access to the most up-to-date rainfall data.   Watch the full exchange below. ⬇️

Today, I had the privilege of honoring local Indiana student-athlete, Jhett Stillwell from the Town of Colfax, Indiana. Stillwell was named a Reserve Champion Student-Athlete of the Year at the National High School Rodeo Finals. This recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both in the rodeo and in their scholastic and personal achievements. His reserve finish gives Indiana representation among the student-athletes recognized at the national level. Congratulations, Jhett, and thank you for all your hard work representing Indiana at such a competitive level.

AM radio remains one of the most effective methods of emergency broadcast transmission accessible to everyone. It’s a vital layer of America’s Emergency Alert System which provides public warnings about natural disasters, AMBER alerts, etc. This is why I am proud to support the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act, which ensures all newly manufactured vehicles must be equipped with AM radio at no additional cost to drivers. We must act now to protect public safety and secure emergency preparedness by passing this legislation.

Today, I had the privilege of honoring Pastor Timothy Hester of Grace Church in DeMotte, Indiana. Pastor Tim has been an exemplary leader at Grace for more than 34 years. Through his ministry, Grace has grown into a thriving congregation and an active part of the DeMotte community. Thank you, Tim, for your dedication to Christ and all of God's children.

25 years ago, our nation was attacked on American soil. The clear blue sky was darkened by choking black smoke, ash, and debris, seared into our collective memory like a scar. Nearly 3,000 victims died 25 years ago, and their memories are not forgotten. Protecting the freedoms they cherished, defending these United States in their memory is a serious mantle all Americans must take up. We honor them not only by remembering that day, but by how we carry our nation forward. I hope that with every step we take to better America, we have made them proud.

One year later, we remember Charlie Kirk and the legacy he leaves behind. Charlie was a steadfast advocate for free speech and believed in engaging with people, no matter their political background or views. Our country needs more people willing to have the hard conversations, to listen to those they disagree with. We may not always agree, but we only find common ground when we are willing to come together and talk.
