I joined community partners to break ground on Alpine Senior Apartments, a new 52-unit development that will give seniors access to safe, quality housing at a range of affordable rents. I promise to continue supporting investments that help make life more affordable for West Michigan.

No one should lose their life in a traffic stop. My office has sent a letter to ICE demanding answers and won't stop until we get them.

Transphobia is unacceptable. Full stop. There is no place for hateful or dehumanizing rhetoric toward transgender people, including my colleague, and it should not be tolerated from anyone in public office. We can disagree on policy without attacking people for who they are.

I visited Community Action House in Holland to see the work they’re doing to make sure West Michigan families have access to healthy food, housing, and the resources they need to build a more stable future.

Today I joined the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office to learn more about their work to strengthen coastal rescue and emergency response efforts. On Lake Michigan, every second counts. I’m grateful to the local teams working to keep West Michigan families safe on the water.

The President’s decision to exclude news organizations because of coverage he considers unfavorable raises serious First Amendment concerns. The freedom of the press is a constitutional protection and it exists in part to ensure that those in power can be questioned and held accountable. I will continue to stand behind the First Amendment and the American people’s right to free press.
