Earlier this month we were delighted to present Peter Coyne with the Volunteer of the Year award at our annual Staff Festival 💛🥳 Peter has volunteered with Right There within our @intandemScot Mentoring programme for just over 3 years. Peter has built positive relationships with his mentees, offering support to the young people and their families on a weekly basis. Peter has gone above and beyond in his role a volunteer mentor and has remained enthusiastic and dedicated to the role over the last three years. We really appreciate your commitment and enthusiasm Peter, thank you for all you do – a very well deserved award!

"I don't think they realise how much they helped me, with just being constant for me, because people have let me down my full life." Cheryl's words show that ending homelessness is about so much more than providing a home. We know that experiences such as family breakdown, addiction, trauma and poor mental health can all contribute to homelessness. To move forward and build a stable future, people often need the right support alongside secure housing. That's why we're Right There when people need us. We are thrilled to announce Blayre is our Mentor of the Month for August, in recognition of her fantastic work, enthusiasm and commitment as a Volunteer Mentor 💛 Blayre began her @intandemScot Mentoring journey with Right There in early 2026 and was matched with M. They bonded quickly and have gone from strength to strength over the past few months. Blayre has been consistent and enthusiastic throughout, as well as a brilliant champion for the programme; M described her as “The Best in the world”. M’s aunt described Blayre as "absolutely wonderful", adding; “I've had many placements for M over the past 10 years of looking after her and no one compares to Blayre, she's just a breath of fresh air. People facing homelessness cannot wait years for new homes to be built. In our latest blog, our CEO Janet Haugh highlights that while increasing affordable housing supply remains essential, we must also make better use of the homes that already exist. Through our short-term housing model, Right There works with Glasgow City Council, landlords and letting agents to provide safe, furnished homes in local communities, helping people access stability and support while longer-term housing options are identified.
