What started as a highly competitive WNBA matchup between the
@chicagosky and
@IndianaFever quickly shifted into a headline-grabbing moment of advocacy, court tension, and raw emotion at Wintrust Arena. 😳🏀
THE INCIDENT ON THE FLOOR:
With just 1:22 remaining in the third quarter, the Indiana Fever called a timeout right after Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud scored a bucket. Turning toward the baseline stands during the stoppage, Cloud engaged in a heated verbal exchange with former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom, who was sitting courtside.
@EnesFreedom, who recently announced his intention to enter the 2027 WNBA draft - was wearing a black T-shirt displaying the text: "WOMAN. Noun. Adult human female."
Security and personnel stepped in as the confrontation escalated, escorting Freedom out of the seating area and off the floor as he gestured toward his shirt.
Following the game,
@T_Cloud4 was concerned her actions had created an unwanted distraction for her team. But Sky head coach Tyler Marsh immediately put those worries to rest, publicly affirming the franchise's unwavering support for their veteran guard.
"I told her she wasn’t," Marsh shared post-game. "I told her that we all embrace her as someone that protects our team and protects people that need to be protected, and so Tash is always going to stand on that, and we stand for Tash."
Cloud didn't let the conversation end on the court. Taking to Threads after the final buzzer, she made her stance crystal clear with an unwavering pledge of solidarity to trans youth and individuals across the country:
"To every trans kid/person, you are a part of my community & tribe. You belong. You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re perfect as you are. & you will always be protected by me."
What are your thoughts on the whole scenario?
