Pratt & Whitney has licensed another American company to build its F100 fighter jet engines for the first time in history.
That company is Hermeus.
Domestic propulsion has hit a massive supply crunch, and engine availability was the single biggest bottleneck looming over scaling the Quarterhorse program.
By bringing production in-house, Hermeus becomes one the first vertically integrated airframer capable with propulsion capability, securing our vehicle production while injecting critical engine capacity back into the defense industrial base.

While AI (as an industry) has hyper-centralized geographically, AI (as a technology) is fueling the rise of the rest per Stripe sign-ups data:
- A higher share of AI-enabled firms are forming outside of major cities
- Even among firms forming in major cities, a growing share are forming farther from the city centers
(Caveat: While it's hard to disentangle AI-enabled business formation from work from home, Stripe data currently shows biz formation is uncorrelated with work from home intensity)
