Anti-AI artists are holding indie devs hostage.
I know indie devs who struggle to pay for their games but hire artists anyway. They’re afraid that using AI for even part of the workflow will bring a mob down on their launch before anyone gets to play it.
Think about that: a developer has bills to pay too. They may spend years building a game, then feel pressured to buy commissions they can’t afford just to avoid being called “AI slop.”
Artists deserve to be paid for work they’re hired to do. Indie devs also deserve to choose how they make their games. Judge the finished game. If it’s lazy, say so. If it’s good, let it stand on its own.
And if you want to challenge companies with the money to hire entire art teams, take that argument to Capcom and Nintendo. Leave struggling indie devs alone.
This hostage situation, cancel culture, and nonsense need to stop.
Anti-AI artists, hear me out: you can’t lose a commission that was never going to exist.
Most people you’re attacking couldn’t afford to hire you in the first place. AI gave them a way to make something anyway.
You’re allowed to hate the tool. But sending the VTuber army after someone with an empty wallet won’t get you paid.
