History is repeating itself. Which side are you on?

Americans still believe they live in a democracy, which is rather sweet. The president has just explained, out loud and to applause, that the only election result he will accept is the one where his side wins, and the country has responded by nodding politely and going back to arguing about the price of petrol. In a few weeks they are going to have a crisis dropped into their laps of a size nobody has ever seen before, and they will be absolutely astonished, because apparently being told in advance doesn't count.

You can reasonably dispute the meaning of a lot Trump says because he’s so incoherent and inarticulate. But what you can’t reasonably dispute is that he is a sadistic and delusional narcissistic sociopath, at once both psychopathic and psychotic, who is lacking in morality, conscience, empathy, remorse, and impulse control, and whose only concern if a city (in any country, including ours) were to be wiped off the face of the Earth, would be how it affects him.

Despite maybe admiring them, our president is not a king , a tsar, or a general secretary of a communist party. He can’t do whatever he wants.
