The whole process behind the drafting of the Islamophobia definition — repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility” — absolutely stinks. The Free Speech Union has been warning about this from the start. This was never about tackling genuine incidents of anti-Muslim hostility: existing laws already do that. It was about shamelessly courting the Muslim vote. We exposed the troubling links between all five members of the Working Group tasked with drafting the definition and Islamist extremist organisations. We warned that the definition would have a chilling effect on free speech. It has since been weaponised against people who have voiced legitimate criticism of Islam, its history and its practices. Then it emerged that the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government had deleted all responses to the consultation that informed the final definition. The Free Speech Union threatened the department with a judicial review unless it revealed who had been allowed to contribute to the consultation. After a considerable delay, and having said that the responses had been deleted, the department has now admitted that they were not. There is clearly a cover-up at the heart of Government.

Today we will announce that the next Conservative Government will deliver the integrated air and missile defence system that Britain needs. We’ve seen the increasing and emerging threat from Russia’s attacks on Kyiv, the vulnerability of infrastructure such as the attack on Leipzig airport and the vulnerability of our own military bases following the drone attack on RAF Akrotiri. We will commit £10bn to fund the delivery of the Britannia Shield, a layered air defence system comprising a network of radar, command and control systems and interceptor missiles, capable of defending Britain's critical national infrastructure and military bases against increasing drone and missile threats. In contrast Labour have pledged less than £0.8bn over the next decade, and reports today say that Andy Burnham and John Healey have pushed back a decision on laying out plans to reach 3.0% until the 2027 budget, over a year away. The Conservatives are the only party with a serious plan for defence.

Shocked that Russia hits back — Zelensky Zelensky says he is "simply in shock" that Russia is "freely, openly" striking hubs, data centers, and mobile communications. He cannot imagine why Putin would do this. Maybe because Putin had enough? When Zelensky started bombing civilian targets, that ended Putin’s patience. Naturally, Putin goes all the way and destroys everything NATO typically destroys (bridges, factories, trains, TV studios, embassies, etc.). Putin does nothing NATO has not done before, with them as a role model, so to speak (🤡). Is Zelensky shocked by what NATO did in Serbia, Iraq, and Libya?
