“My principal motive is the belief that we can still make admirable sense of our lives even if we cease to have an ambition of transcendence" – Richard Rorty

It’s getting harder to ignore decisions coming out of Washington that directly benefit Moscow. Waiving sanctions on Russian oil, even temporarily, pumps billions back into Putin’s war chest at the worst possible time. That money doesn’t sit idle. It fuels war in Ukraine and instability far beyond it, including deepening military cooperation with Iran, from intelligence sharing to drone development.
Famous former White House official Anthony Scaramucci confirms Donald Trump is completely compromised. He reveals both Putin and Netanyahu have massive blackmail material on him.

Nobel Peace Prize winner and former IAEA Director General Mohamed @ElBaradei has urged the international community to stop President Trump: “Please, do everything in your power before this madman turns the region into a fireball.” Trump has debased the US and wrecked its reputation for generations to come. The damage might be irreversible.

The lead article in #LePoint from #France (“The Great Heist”)is an extensive investigation into the intersection of Trump’s second term and his and family’s private business interests. The report argues that the White House under Trump has shockingly been transformed into a "cash machine" for the #Trump family and their associates. Key themes of the article include: 1. The "Crypto-President": The report examines how the administration’s shift toward pro-crypto policies coincided with the launch of Trump-branded digital assets and "World Liberty Financial," alleging that regulatory decisions are being influenced by the President's personal holdings. 2. Insider Trading Allegations: Le Point investigates "troubling" market fluctuations that occur immediately following the President's social media posts or policy announcements. It suggests that a small circle of "insiders" may be profiting from prior knowledge of these shifts. 3. Real Estate & Private Clubs: The article details how foreign delegations and lobbyists continue to frequent Trump-owned properties (like Mar-a-Lago), creating a system where access to the Commander-in-Chief is effectively a commercial transaction. 4. The "Trumpification" of Washington: Beyond the money, the article describes an "aesthetic of power," where the President’s personal brand—symbolized by the gold coin shown on the cover—is being merged with the official symbols of the American state as the country approaches its 250th anniversary. The tone of the piece is highly critical, framing these actions not just as ethical lapses, but as a systematic "heist" of democratic norms for private gain.

Lots of confidence about the major issues of the future. I'm not saying these predictions are wrong. But we will likely be as successful predicting what is important ten years from now... as we were at predicting today's major issues in 2015.

He’s going to attempt a coup. 2020 was the testing ground. After our government’s incompetence in holding him accountable the first time, they emboldened him to do it again. Our institutions are weakened, the military is being purged, our people are divided, our news is full of falsehoods, congress is defanged and the ultra rich are backing him with seemingly unlimited money. The ingredients for a coup are all present.
I can say with great certainty that the people that are downplaying Trump’s purge of the military have never read a history book

Trump is calling reporters today to tell them he is going to commit mass war crimes next week. GOP leaders need to stop him. Never mind that blowing up bridges and power plants and killing innocent Iranians won't reopen the Strait. It's also a clear war crime. 1/ A 🧵on why:
Spoke with President Trump. He told me the conflict should be over in days, not weeks but if no deal is made he’s blowing up the whole country with “very little” off the table. "If happens, it happens. And if it doesn't, we're blowing up the whole country,” he said. I asked if there’s anything off limits. “Very little,” he said.

Amazing how Gupta is like the only one saying what everyone else knows and it is literally buried in the news. We literally have a mental patient running this nation and the press doesn't have the courage to even hold him to the same bullshit standard they held Biden to just two years ago. Sickening.

Don’t know who this guy is. I assume he’s British. But he calls it right every time, with knowledge and facts.
No serious nation in the history of warfare has spent fourteen months insulting its allies, siding with their common enemy, and then knocked on their door expecting them to rescue a catastrophe of its own making. You abused the UK. Threatened Canada. Tried to grab Greenland. Called the EU an adversary. Praised Putin. Hosted Kremlin officials in the Capitol. Abandoned Ukraine. And did all of it loudly, proudly, and on camera. And now you are surprised that nobody is returning your calls. You want European boots on the ground? Start by explaining why America is more aligned with Moscow than with Brussels. Take your time. We will wait. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

The Europeans are not dealing with “a man.” They are dealing with the United States of America. The United States needed the most innocuous kind of cooperation from them. They denied the United States that cooperation. The implied argument is that their obligations within our alliance depend on whether they like the guy we chose as our president. “Sure, we’re allies…if we approve of who you elected.” Nope. We are not going to forget, and we’re not going to forgive. I’m indifferent to their excuses or their rationalizations. The United States of America needed their help and not very much help. They turned us down. That changes everything. And they aren’t going to like how it changes everything.

We are seven months away from the most consequential midterm election in the history of the United States. Meanwhile, we are fighting a war. These are the structural conditions for a coup attempt in which a president tries to nullify elections and take permanent power as a dictator. If we see this, we can stop it, overcome the movement that brought us to this point, and make a turn towards something better. snyder.substack.com/p/the-ne…

If you don’t know who Timothy Snyder is, suffice it to say he is one of the brightest minds among us. If he is warning of a potential coup, America beware.

The Financial Times is reporting something that should be front-page news everywhere.       Pete Hegseth didn’t just help design the Iran war. He championed it publicly, cheered it on, and sold it to the American people. And according to the Financial Times, while his own department was in the final stages of preparing to launch it, his broker at Morgan Stanley was attempting to make a multimillion-dollar investment in the defense companies that build the weapons we used to fight it.       The investment didn’t ultimately go through, but only because the fund wasn’t yet available on Morgan Stanley’s platform. Not because anyone stopped it.      If these reports are accurate, the Secretary of Defense was positioned to profit from a war he helped start, using information no private investor could ever have. That is a profound betrayal of every service member he commands, and of every American who trusted this Administration with their national security.      No one should be cashing in on privileged information while lives and national security are on the line.
