Angela Rayner’s new policy on ‘Empty Dwelling Management Orders’ is one of the most outrageous, authoritarian overreaches by a British government ever. It gives the state the power to confiscate private property if left unoccupied for six months. It is literally legalised theft and yet the left-wing media luvvies lapped up her party conference speech and let it slip by without so much as a whimper of protest. When people realise how pernicious Rayner’s ‘Empty Dwelling Management Orders’ are, the inevitable outcry will be too late. First and foremost, it will be the state that decides if your house is ripe for confiscation. The local council will deploy ‘Empty Homes Officers’, for which there is about to be a recruitment drive, who will spy on your property. These state snoops will visit your property, check your mail, take photos of your house and obtain your water and energy usage.  Armed with this information, like some second-rate private investigator, build a case on whether you’ve been living there.   Then when the state seizes your property and rents it out, who gets the payments? You guessed it, it goes directly to the local council. And they get to decide if they want to use the rent for repairs, building works and any health-and-safety upgrades to make the house habitable. They will then take out any money needed to cover the council's letting agent fees and property management costs. Only then, if there is anything left, will the actual owner get something.   The state will be able to confiscate your property for seven years.    Of course, the property owner will still be responsible for paying the mortgage if there is one - even if they are getting no income. The council, despite taking the rent, won’t cover the mortgage payments.  But should this lead to a default, the bank can repossess the property, so the owner will potentially lose everything. That isn’t the end of the scandal, because should the tenant, which the council found, stop paying rent, the council can’t evict them as they have full legal tenancy rights. Leaving the property owner with even fewer rights than the non-rent paying tenant.    People have complicated lives which means they may end up with an empty property - for example if an elderly parent dies, a messy divorce or a house you hoped you could one day do up.   Housing Secretary, Angela Rayner, too has a complicated housing arrangement. She divides her time across three accommodations - her Westminster one, her constituency home in Ashton-under-Lyne, and her new controversial Hove apartment (the one she didn’t pay full stamp duty on over which she had to resign).   No doubt the state won’t be looking to seize her private property.  In this Socialist nightmare we are living through, some are always more equal than others.

The police imposed a ban on face coverings at today's march. I've been here for an hour and have seen dozens of protesters with their faces covered and the police are doing nothing about it. What is the point of conditions you won't enforce? Do your job, @metpoliceuk.

Four police officers for a schoolboy calling a councillor a name. The same force cannot find the people kicking folk unconscious in city centres. That is not policing. That is a priority list. #FreeSpeech #TwoTierPolicing #Scotland

It is deeply shocking that a Conservative councillor thought he could use West Midlands Police as his personal tool to silence comments he disliked about himself — especially when they were made by a 15-year-old child. More shocking still is that West Midlands Police investigated and arrested the child. This is not an isolated case: the force has a record of zealously acting on complaints about “hurty words” online. Calling someone a “rent boy” may be personally offensive to the councillor, but it is not a hate crime. We are in the UK, not North Korea. Politicians must not be able to use the police to silence people who insult them. This is a blatant abuse of power — an assault on both free speech and democracy.

Why the FUCK do foreign nationals qualify, @Leon_Schreib?
SASSA Reveals It Spends Nearly R1 Billion Every Year For Old Age Grants Paid To More Than 34 000 Foreign Nationals South Africa spends nearly R1 billion a year on Older Persons Grants for foreign nationals, according to the South African Social Security Agency’s half-year report. The report shows that 34 249 foreign nationals receive the grant, with permanent residents making up the overwhelming majority of beneficiaries. Of the 34 249 foreign nationals receiving the Older Persons Grant, 34 051 are permanent residents. Gauteng has the highest number, with 17 268 beneficiaries and an annual spend of R497.3 million, followed by Mpumalanga with 5 714 beneficiaries and R164.6 million, while Limpopo has 3 801 beneficiaries. The Western Cape has 1 899 foreign beneficiaries, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 1 858, Free State with 1 577, North West with 1 159, Eastern Cape with 782 and Northern Cape with 191. Overall, SASSA spends R986.37 million annually on Older Persons Grants for foreign nationals. SASSA says foreign nationals must meet the same eligibility criteria as South African citizens to receive social grants. For the Older Persons Grant, single applicants must earn below R9 350 a month and have assets below R1.58 million, while married couples must meet the applicable income and asset limits. Beneficiaries also become ineligible if they remain outside South Africa for more than 90 days.

16 years serving this country. Four tours. Now Peter Wilshaw has spent around 18 months homeless, bounced from council to council and fighting just to get the basic support he needs. This is how Britain treats some of the men who served it. We went with Peter to Stevenage Borough Council to demand answers — and finally, there’s been some progress. Watch this. Our veterans deserve better.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct investigated Rotherham Police. They called it Operation Linden. Look it up. It took 8 years to complete and cost £6m to produce. It found things like this. "A child survivor told the BBC that a police officer threatened to return her to the gang she was trying to escape unless she "entertained him". The child decided it was easier to be raped once more rather than to be sent back". I have attached figures from the IOPC report. Not a single officer was fired, charged or lost their pension. Everyone knows but the Labour cover-up continues. rapecrisis.org.uk/news/no-po…

An 18-year-old recovering from a suicide attempt was sexually assaulted by the hospital worker entrusted with keeping her safe. Adam Mushtaq ignored her repeated refusals, put his hand inside her pyjama bottoms and then claimed they were playing Grand Theft Auto when doctors entered the room. The 28-year-old was jailed for 20 months yesterday after being convicted of sexually assaulting the vulnerable patient at a Glasgow hospital on January 25, 2024. He was supposed to watch over her. Instead, he exploited his access to a young woman in crisis. Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Mushtaq showed her images on his phone, including two naked photographs of himself, before hugging her, kissing her hand and making sexual comments. He later returned to the room, closed the door and continued. The woman described him putting an arm around her while sliding his other hand inside her pyjamas. “I kept saying no, I just kind of let it happen, I didn’t know what to do,” she told the court. When she expressed concern about nurses coming in, Mushtaq said he would move. Doctors then entered. Mushtaq claimed the pair had been playing Grand Theft Auto and brought the game up on his phone. The woman rejected that account in her evidence: “He wasn’t playing it, it was just for show.” Even after that interruption, his behaviour continued. She told the court he kissed her and tried to lift her jumper in a staff lift before putting her into a taxi home. She later disclosed what had happened to two support workers. Sentencing Mushtaq, Sheriff Joan Kerr condemned his abuse of a position of trust and his refusal to take responsibility. She said he had instead blamed the vulnerable woman he was supposed to safeguard. The sheriff described the woman’s evidence as among the most difficult she had witnessed because of the effect his actions had had on her. Her victim impact statement laid out the continuing harm. “You were a healthcare professional tasked with safeguarding her when you conducted yourself in this way,” the sheriff said. “Rather than doing that, you committed opportunistic and sexually motivated offences.” Mushtaq, of Croftfoot, Glasgow, had no previous convictions. His defence acknowledged the seriousness of the offence and the breach of trust, arguing that the attack had been opportunistic rather than planned. He lost his healthcare job and had since been working in restaurants. Alongside his prison sentence, Mushtaq was placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and given a four-year non-harassment order banning any contact with his victim. She entered hospital needing protection. The man assigned to provide it sexually assaulted her. Is nowhere safe anymore? Predator awareness
