Signing off in style. Graeme is one of the most innovative minds I have worked with, and a standout in even the classy-but-eccentric world of Timeform. Will miss his insights (nice of him to give a word up for Prufrock as well, whatever happened to him...)

Agree with this. Went quickly enough that, after a brief period of chasing, the pack left him to it. Then reined it in but was still left to his own devices as none of the others wanted to move 1st. Stamina ran out in final 500m but almost pulled it off. And POL is V GOOD.

My take. Royal didn't stay the 3200m, maybe a fraction fast early but nothing in it. POL is an absolute beast. But everyone lucky that Royal didn't stay. If he did, the jocks would have had their pants pulled down.

Fascinating race tactically for the Melbourne Cup yesterday. This is how the principals paced compared to the average splits for 1st-5 finishers in the preceding 5 years, expressed as lengths.

Brilliant to see racing back at @ChelmsfordCRC. And sectional times and speed data seamlessly back too. UK racing faces plenty of challenges, but free access to advanced data is worth celebrating. We're one of only a handful of racing nations with 100% sectional coverage.

he not only has a freakish stride length, he also has a freakish ability to quickly drop or increase his stride rate at a wide range Andrew Cooper ruined his chance in the Derby and he the lads left an Irish Champion on the table he could be a real monster next year if kept out
