I, for one, would be quite happy if the Lions went 11-2 the rest of the way 🫣
🚨 NFL FRAUD METER - Week 4 🏈 Last year at this point it had the 1-3 Texans due to rise. They went 11-2 the rest of the way...

I knows it's after the fact but I have so many thoughts about the Lions defense on this play. Feels like they kind of just abandon the idea of pass. It's an aggressive blitz to the front side of this play with the boundary CB. Interesting decision for a bad pass defense that might need more or better DBs in coverage. But if there are going to be 2 WRs in that area, this feels like a blitz you just have to call off. Lots of strain on the LBs to play the run first but have to gain serious ground with their alignment to those WRs as well. But this is how teams are getting the matchups they want. The alignment of the defense just always feels like the Lions are immediately at a disadvantage. The safeties are 13 yards off the ball are another example. Just feels odd as they were getting picked apart in the middle of the field and it didn't feel like they made any adjustments to it. I know trading for a talented DB is what all fans want but we obviously have to see what they're going to do there. In the meantime, I have to think internally. Maybe this week they bring up a player such as Nick Whiteside or see what Bishop Fitzgerald can do. Get back to more 4-man fronts (base and nickel) and trust that the front-7 can stop the run. Idk folks. #OnePride

Lions actually play pretty good defense here but Bryce Young just makes a great play. Hubbard showing good balance, body control and play strength after the catch too. #OnePride

Dan Campbell opens his Monday press conference after the Lions loss: "I think a lot of our games are going to be this way, and it's important for us to compliment each other." "We're not in flow right now, obviously. And we need to get takeaways on defense."

Fresh set of downs for the Panthers and they run the ball with ease by using their 13 personnel grouping. It's easy for TE 82 Tommy Tremble to kick-out CB D.J. Reed (even though he misses). Especially since LB Trevor Nowaske and S Christian Izien get stuck inside. #OnePride

Lions LB Jack Campbell actually does a good job getting depth here but CB Roger McCreary loses 1-on-1 against Tet McMillan on the perimeter and the Lions are aligned offsides. No matter what good you can find, there's always something wrong. #OnePride

Look...I know this resulted in a sack and it's actually covered pretty well but why in the hell is Aidan Hutchinson covering Tommy Tremble at the top of the screen? I know the Panthers shift into an empty formation here but Shep is asking his defense to do odd things. #OnePride

Pre-snap motion is absolutely killing the Lions defense. It stresses their alignment and communication almost every single time. First drive of the game, the Panthers are aligned 3x1 but use motion to get 2x2. This forces the boundary CB to widen and back off. The interior backers don't shift but the SAM (Nowaske) does change his alignment so now they're too tight at the 2nd level. The safeties keep their depth at 9 yards and it gives a giant throwing window for Young to find McMillan. #OnePride

First defensive snap in the NFL for Jimmy Rolder is a TFL. I'm not sure why he only played 7 snaps on defense but this was a positive for the Lions defense. Also, shoutout Tyleik Williams, Alim McNeill and Tyler Lacy for doing a great job up front. #OnePride

Never want to see anyone lose their job but my gut says that a change is coming. Campbell and the players haven been asked the same question week after week. If you’re serious about doing right for the players on the team, you make a change before it’s too late. #OnePride
Replying to @nolanbianchi
Dan Campbell adds that he does reserve the right to make a change at DC if he feels like it's right for the team and reiterates that he's always going to do what's right for the players.

hey, if you want a good defensive stat for the Detroit Lions, you'll need to go back The Great Depression

For anyone asking, this is not a dig on the media in this town. Have nothing but love and respect for everyone who covers the team.
To the media that is going to be asking the questions after the game and throughout the week... Don't bother asking about Branch, Kerby or trades. Ask this defensive staff the hard hitting questions regarding their piss poor coaching, scheme and lack of adjustments.

One team was 5-11 and the other was 0-16. I guess that’s gonna be the bar for this team that has far more talent than the 2008 or 2020 teams.
Most points per game allowed in a season in the last 40 years: 2020 Lions – 32.4 2008 Lions – 32.3 2026 Lions – 31.8 (through 4 games)
