That is what the 1967 lines were. Armistice lines from a war the Arab states started to erase the country, not a border anybody agreed, and not a map a moderate Saudi Arabia was standing apart from. Faisal was in it. The words are on the tape. The first war was to annihilate Israel, the second was to exterminate it, and in 1973 the Syrian army came down off the Golan far enough that the general staff thought the state was in danger of being destroyed. A Palestinian state on those lines is not a flag and a parliament. At the narrowest point that line sits about nine to fifteen miles from the sea, on the high ground overlooking Tel Aviv, the airport, and the road that holds the country together, with Gaza on the other side. Put an armed faction in both places, the kind that already ran Gaza after Israel left in 2005, and you’ve built the encirclement those wars failed to finish, with half of Jerusalem thrown in. Her name was Naama Abu Rashed. 💔 Her mother, Sujood, a Bedouin Israeli, was nine months pregnant and in labor when she and her husband were driving to Soroka Medical Center. They never made it there safely. At Magen Junction, Hamas terrorists opened fire on their car. Sujood was shot in the abdomen. Her unborn baby was wounded inside her womb. Doctors fought to save them both. Naama was delivered alive. Fourteen hours later, she died. She never got to go home. She never got to know her family. She never got the chance to grow up. Hamas did not care that this family was Arab. They did not care that Sujood was Muslim. They did not care that Naama was an innocent newborn. A year later, Sujood returned to the same hospital and gave birth to another baby girl, Malak. Tomorrow, when we remember the lives stolen on October 7, remember her name too. Naama Abu Rashed. 14 hours old. May her memory be a blessing. 🕯️
