Oooh this is what people are so angry about! I was asked about whether City’s owners will leave. What I said on this very video, which I think is what I wanted to convey, is that these kind of conversations are gonna be normal now (given the size of the story) but ultimately I don’t think that’s going to happen.

There’s a lot of anger about me assuming that City are guilty. The story is that City are guilty, that’s the verdict that will come out. That’s what all the questions - and answers - are based on! But as I’ve said many times on other radio appearances, City remain confident in their chances of appeal and that there’s more to come

They have always maintained their innocence, so the news they have been found guilty on almost all of the Premier League charges against them could barely have come as a bigger shock.
For a club that has just enjoyed the greatest decade of its existence, this changes everything.

Maresca was asked about the set-up for the second goal and this was the answer (more or less)
"We tried just to be ourselves, before the game this was for me the main message, no matter if we are home, away, which competition, the important thing is to be ourselves. We try to be aggressive off the ball, I think for Sunderland today it was quite 'easy' to play with Brobbey, from there they can play with the free kicks. We had players inside the box ready to react and recover the ball, and it's something we have done since we started.
"The message is try to win the ball back as soon as possible, also if there is a chance to attack immediately we can attack immediately. I think it was a nice goal because we won the ball and attacked immediately."
Quite an odd passage of play in the sense that City's press looked a bit off kilter — Gvardiol wanted Semenyo to drop, but he couldn't, so Gvardiol went high and looked like he was in no man's land. But then the ball landed right at his feet after Ndiaye wins the ball right in the middle, and Gvardiola's first-time ball into Haaland creates the chaos that Cherki benefits from — he kept his head as you would expect to fire in low

Full-time, City win 5-3, which shows how devastating they can be in attack, but also how chaotic they were at the back — Sunderland were still piling on the pressure after the fifth goal, and had a couple of chances to make it 5-4. Both teams missed chances at key moments, both teams looked dangerous, and both teams looked fragile. A good win for City for sure, as Sunderland were very good, but plenty to improve on
