Say whatever you need to say, however you need to say it, however long you need to say it.
But I’m going to say this slowly and stubbornly for the folks who still don’t get it:
When Democrats win the House majority in a few weeks,
@RepJeffries who has kept his caucus remarkably unified and has been historically successful at controlling the House floor from the minority- WILL become the first Black Speaker of the House.
That’s not speculation. That’s how this will work because he has done the work from leading to recruiting to raising the necessary funds for the team to compete.
So argue, complain, handwring, write your think pieces, post your threads, curse me out. Hell, do what you need to do.
The vast majority of us are focused on winning the damn majority in both chambers and addressing the needs of the American people.
I have said it many times, if you’re too slow or too stubborn to understand, I’ll say it with one more time: meeting secretly with a person you need to be investigating to find common ground is not the same as meeting publicly with a person you have no power to hold to account. If you don’t understand the respective roles and powers of the mayor of New York and the Speaker of the House, I don’t know what else to say to you. Also, based on his past secret meetings, eg with Silicon Valley, it’s understandable a lot of people don’t trust him.
