I used to drive past this spot twice a day on scooter from 2019 to 2024 to drop my wife off and pick her up from office. It never got this bad. Something has gone horribly wrong in Bengaluru's waste management system. That, or there is zero enforcement of illegal dumping laws.

Everyone is calling it a victory. But is it? 7 flyovers and 7 underpasses have been shelved around KBR National Park and replaced with one elevated corridor. But before we celebrate, we need to look at what has already happened. More than 900 trees have been felled or affected. 🪵 The landscape has been excavated. 🪵 Rocks have been cut into. 🪵 Water channels have been disrupted. 🪵 The ecosystem has already paid a price. 🪵 And hundreds of crores of public money have already been spent. Changing the project does not erase the destruction that has already taken place. And it certainly does not answer the bigger question: What protects KBR from the next government, the next project, the next excuse? Because our fight was never simply against seven flyovers and seven underpasses. Our fight was always for KBR to receive the protection a National Park deserves. ✅A scientifically justified Eco-Sensitive Zone. ✅ A legally robust protection. ✅ Protection that cannot be diluted or manipulated every time an infrastructure project comes knocking at its boundary.
