Chinese AI chip exports are set to hit the world at scale in just a couple years. @RyanFedasiuk and I have worked on a report on Chinese chip production for the next few years and why chip exports and compute self sufficiency are closer than assumed aei.org/research-products/wo…

Elon complaining about how Starlink isn’t allowed in India and calling it a crime against its people is helluva rich given how Tesla is protected in the US from Chinese competition.
Unfortunately, we are being blocked by certain oligarchs in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people. You can guess who they are … This is a crime against the people of India!

Expensive oil that occasionally gets hit by a missile or drone hardly qualifies as normalization. Do yourself a favor and avoid narratives that suggest one side or the other is achieving its maximalist aims. This is a stalemate.

India's agriculture policies are 100x more responsible for poor drought management than any number of data centers, of which India frankly does not have that many even in the pipeline
Luckily we approved data centers near lakes with 15 year tax breaks and subsidized water and electricity right before we announced a drought in the state ✌️ too much masterstroke

"How do single-celled algae swim toward light sources" is the kind of project that gets DOGE'd—how does this help Americans? 20 years later, the underlying protein is a central tool in human neuroscience. We're a rich country, we should be funding way more basic science.

Tejas was never meant for this. Its sole purpose is sustainability in an attrition war. From engines to radar and armament, it was meant to be Indian and modifiable at short notice as warfare dynamics change. Is it too hard to grasp this?
4 more engines and you will have engines for all of these airframes and moments software issues with Radar etc are sorted you will recived a squadron worth of aircrafts.

The reality of ToT manufacturing. When it comes to war the domestic industry doesn’t have the ecosystem to upgrade, modify, service or supply at surge rates. India will fight at the mercy of foreign powers whims.
Replying to @YusufDFI
The K9 Vajra is manufactured in India, but much of its underlying logistics architecture is not organically connected to India's wider automotive or military-industrial ecosystem. Its engine, transmission, suspension and other specialised components are tied to a foreign-origin design and, to varying degrees, depend on imported or specialised supply chains. Consequently, the Indian Army cannot necessarily draw on the same domestic component base that supports trucks, armoured vehicles, tractors, engineering equipment or other military platforms. In a intensity setting, I wonder how serviceable it will be.

The upstream KSMs for fermentation APIs are in processed agri sector. As long as government maintains priority for mandis and such, the incentive to sell agri products will be mainly food markets and biofuels, not KSM production
Reshoring APIs and KSMs production is a core GoI priority. Indian pharma largely abandoned them early 2000s when China's subsidized production scaled up. Penicillin G KSM production has restarted after three decades.

PLI is best made for commodity adjacent systems where immediate technical competence lies in orchestration not in material science. But government will struggle to understand this
For anything to do with building a supply chain, PLI isn't the best tool. The government needs to understand this plain fact. They are trying the same thing again with the telecom equipment PLI. An extra 10k crores in capex and power subsidy will get you much more in local supply chain than the 6-7k crore PLI.
