Today was by far the scariest day of my life. Nobody had been able to get in touch with my dad for more than 24 hours. He lives in Las Vegas while I’m in New York, so being so far away made the situation even more terrifying.
I called the police and requested a welfare check, then reached out to several of his friends to see if someone could go to his house. When they got there, he wasn’t answering the door, so they called the police. The officers ultimately had to break into the house to make sure he was okay.
Thank God, he was alive and conscious, but he is very sick with a severe case of the flu, and possibly something else that we don’t know yet.
He went to urgent care and was then admitted to the hospital, where they’re giving him antibiotics and oxygen and monitoring him closely. Thankfully, he’s in good spirits and staying positive. Hopefully, he’ll recover quickly and be back on his feet soon.
Those few hours of waiting to find out whether he was okay were pure agony. I love my dad more than anything in this world. He is my best friend, my hero, and one of the greatest blessings in my life along with my wife and children. Not knowing whether he was safe was torture.
Life is incredibly precious, and everything can change in an instant. Never take the people you love for granted. Tell them how much they mean to you, cherish every moment you have together, and never let a conversation end on a bad note if you can help it. We are never guaranteed another opportunity to express our love.
God is great, Christ is King, and I place my trust in Him to guide us through this ordeal, whatever the outcome may be.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered prayers and support. Please continue to keep my dad in your prayers and ask God to grant him healing, strength, and a speedy recovery. I love you all.
