Honestly, the coolest thing I’ve ever read about myself: An NFL Director of Analytics used to have his staffers keep tabs on my posts because I was finding dank stats they were missing on the team side Means a lot coming from you @RyanPaganetti. Thanks for the kind words
Jonah Coleman got pulled after 4 first quarter carries and the last two runs speak for themselves (all carries in video below) Sean Payton was quite happy with what he saw in post game quotes @ScottBarrettDFB of @FantasyPts was all over him in the pre-draft process as a potential undervalued player Once upon a time, I used to ask staffers to keep tabs on Scott's posts because he would find so many good nuggets that we missed on from the team side. 100% conviction the fantasy points guys have a better grasp for RB importance/talent than some sitting NFL GMs

I was once told by a former NFL Network boss that he could, “teach a blind monkey to write fantasy football articles.” I took that personal. We outdid ourselves this week at FantasyPoints.com. We have a team of sickos writing the sickest articles. Get dialed for Week 3:

A really tough couple of weeks for former PFF employees Zac Robinson -- Baker Mayfield hasn't looked this bad since OBJ's dad was tweeting out lowlight videos. Meanwhile, Kevin Stefanski has Michael Penix Jr. looking like Peyton Manning Bobby Slowik -- Stubbornly running the league's slowest-paced offense despite the league's worst point differential. Has a QB who runs a 4.37 forty-yard dash with fewer rushing attempts than Kirk Cousins
PENIX WAS UNDER CENTER 35 TIMES HIS FIRST GAME BACK FROM INJURY HE HAD NEVER BEEN UNDER CENTER MORE THAN 8 TIMES IN A GAME BEFORE ZAC ROBINSON IS A CRIMINAL

Kyle Pitts is the biggest ponzi scheme in fantasy football history. The Falcons have 500 yards today, and Pitts has just 1% of those yards He has only 20 yards through 3 games this year But this shouldn't surprise you. He has just one 100-yard game over the last five seasons

The goal of @FantasyPts was to give your fantasy team the same level of attention, care, and expertise an NFL front office would give to its own team. Here's a former NFL Director of Analytics saying our team is better and more cracked than the Jets 😎😎
Replying to @RyanPaganetti
if you actually want your team to be under center in short yardage like Tom Brady and the Patriots dynasty correctly did for 20 years, follow along. And use @FantasyPts for the most cracked data and analysis possible that is better than your teams analytics staff

Frank is awesome, but I believe the data he is being provided is incredibly misleading in this situation. You can’t simply exclude quarterback sneaks from the under center population and then conclude that shotgun is better. That removes a central part of what makes being under center valuable. I don’t buy the idea that only three or four teams can sneak effectively. Over the last eight seasons, 26 NFL franchises converted at least 81% of their QB sneaks on 3rd/4th & 1. In my view, forcing defenses to account for the sneak is a major advantage in short yardage. If they don’t defend it, take it. If they sell out to stop it, you’ve created opportunities to attack elsewhere. And being under center doesn’t mean you have to sneak. When defenses had defenders on the line occupying both A gaps and both B gaps, passes from under center on 4th & 1 converted 74.4% of the time and averaged +1.28 EPA/play. Against those same interior looks, pin and pull concepts and jet sweeps both converted over 82% of the time with one yard to go. These concepts illustrate the complementary options available. The defense’s commitment to stopping one yard inside can create an opportunity for a much bigger play outside. Moving into shotgun takes the conventional sneak off the table. The broader comparison matters: on 4th & 1, runs and passes from under center combined converted 70.9%, versus 65.3% from shotgun. Perhaps most importantly, not all shotgun runs present the same threats. Shotgun runs with a QB run, read option or RPO component: 73.2% conversion, +0.68 EPA/play. Shotgun runs without those components: 64.5% conversion, +0.08 EPA/play. That second group was also below runs from under center excluding sneaks: 66.2% conversion and +0.22 EPA/play. The Jets’ failed play was a simple handoff with no QB run, read option or RPO component. Applying the overall shotgun run average to that play glosses over a meaningful distinction. My preferred approach remains: line up under center, make the sneak a credible and frequent threat, and carry complementary plays that punish defenses for overcommitting inside. You want the yard. But when the defense sells out to take that yard away, your answer might produce the play that wins the game.
OC Frank Reich came armed with stats at today's presser. On the fourth-and-1 out of shotgun (stuffed for 0 gain): Citing research by the analytics department, he said "gun" runs on fourth-and-1 over a 5-year period, excluding QB sneaks, have a 71% success rate, compared to 67% from under center. Why not a QB sneak? He said it was in the game plan. Obviously, he preferred a handoff. Why not use a TE, perhaps Kenyon Sadiq, as a wildcat QB? Says it would've been risky to use a TE in rainy conditions, adding that Sadiq had only one week of practice due to injury. #Jets

Replying to @benbbaldwin
Since Herbert entered the league, passing offense of his teams has been about as good as those of Cousins, Mayfield, Murray etc. This is over a very large sample with a lot of mixes of teammates, playcallers, etc. Reasonable to wonder- if he is so good, why are his teams not?
