Do you find ever yourself driving by a gas station, looking at the price and thinking "I wish there was some way that I could come here to fill up more often?" If so, you'll love Trump's roll back of national fuel economy standards. apnews.com/article/trump-gas…

FWIW, Trump's Department of Transportation agrees that this rule will make you poorer. Fiscally stupid. Environmentally irresponsible. Politically moronic. But hey, at least the oil companies get to sell more gasoline. subscriber.politicopro.com/a…

Borrowing from the SPR because you jacked up the price of oil because you claimed that domestic production insulated the US from global commodity markets and didn't look at a map before you bombed Iran is no basis for national energy policy. semafor.com/article/09/29/20…

There is no more durable way to lower your energy bills than to rapidly deploy technologies that let you stay warm, travel and keep the lights on without buying/burning fossil fuel. chicago.suntimes.com/real-es…

The inverse of this is also true. Block permits for clean energy, repeal programs that help folks without disposable income to make the initial investments and subsidize oil, gas and coal extraction and you will drive everyone's energy costs up. Case in point: Trumpism.

Case in point:
The case for capitalism is that if you can't provide maximum value @ least cost you won't succeed. Trumpism is the opposite, esp as relates to fossil fuels, where the rules are "if you can't compete, call us and we'll protect you from those pesky markets." nytimes.com/2026/09/28/clima…

Protecting child predators, facilitating extra-judicial murders, jacking up everyone's prices through tariffs and military misadventures all so that Donald Trump can get rich and he doesn't yell at you is a hell of a closing message. But totally on brand for Mr. Johnson.

Last week, I met with the team from We Are Creed in Burr Ridge and delivered books from the Library of Congress Surplus Books Program, which donates books to educational institutions, public agencies, and nonprofit tax-exempt agencies with the purpose of building library collections. Mr. President, what is your message to everyday Americans who are struggling to pay their bills in the face of rising tariffs and fuel costs?

Mike Johnson also believes that if he can just get all the Jews into Israel he will be raptured. We are under no obligation to respect his beliefs.
Mike Johnson says opposition to data centers "is a Chinese psyop. I really believe that. That's not a conspiracy theory."

Chinese EV exports have doubled since the US invaded Iran. They are also ramping up solar, batteries and all the other tech that drives a modern economy. Trump is not only curtailing those, but pushing coal exports. It's so sad. whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2…

To quote Scott Bessent, "tariffs are inflationary". So is starting needless wars with Iran. Throwing life preservers at an economy that remains tied to those rocks won't make it float. If he just admit his first ideas were wrong we could fix this. washingtonpost.com/business/…

Their "ideas are running into resistance" because they are bad ideas and voters are smart. A better framing would be "their first ideas were bad, and their second ideas were trivial." As Jack Handey says, I'd rather be rich than stupid. But this administration prefers stupidity.

You voted to confirm the OMB Director.
Without warning or consultation, Congress just received an $810 million package of pocket rescissions from the Administration.  This is the most recent attempt by this Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to undermine Congress’s Constitutional power of the purse.    This move shows that OMB intentionally withheld these funds for months to execute this unlawful cancellation of appropriations that were approved on a bipartisan basis and signed into law.     Not only is the delay itself an impoundment that was not reported to Congress, but also it is a usurpation of Congress’s appropriations powers.  OMB is an agency of the executive branch.  It does not get to decide which programs are worth funding.   The independent Government Accountability Office has concluded that pocket rescissions are unlawful and not permitted by the Impoundment Control Act. Any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is a clear violation of the law.   I will work with my colleagues to address these illegal actions.
