We’re honored to share that South of Midnight has won Outstanding Achievement in Animation at the D.I.C.E. Awards.
By embracing imperfection where perfection is expected, we reveal the humanity at the heart of the craft.
To our team of animators and all our partners who brought this world to life. Thank You!

I guess two layoffs in 22 years isn’t so bad..? But being on an employer-sponsored work visa makes it a bit more stressful to find a job within the next couple of months. Any leads will be helpful!
One way I advise students on pushing poses in 3D is to "break cardinal planes"
Front = Coronal
Side = Saggital
Top = Transverse
In the example below, the eyes/head hips are parallel to the transverse plane, creating a "square" or "blocky" look 1/3

Tank combat breakdown for phase 1 is done!

There wasn't a lot of technical stuff to go over since this project is mostly animation-focused, but hopefully someone learns something new. If anyone has questions I can add to the breakdown or answer here.
Not really any tricks here. Good "camera motion" requires studying cinematography! It's an entire field in the film industry and DPs dedicate their lives to it the same way animators dedicate their lives to studying acting and human/animal behavior. 1/10

Looking for a powerhouse keyframe animator 🐭 experienced in gameplay systems, cinematics, and technical. Yeah, that’s a lot, but we’re a tiny team so we wear many hats.

Great video, as always, from Mark Brown (@gamemakerstk), about one of my favorite genre; stealth. Curious about the design of those types of games? This mini-series is worth a check for sure!

@KrisZadziuk It'd be curious to get your take on this. Animation wise, what did you learn on 'Splinter Cell Blacklist' (best in recent memory) to visually improve the 'signs & feedback' for the players and support those systems? Timings, blends, reaction delay...
Insightful thread about the opening sequence of Jack Reacher. From the script to the final edit, this sequence was amazingly assembled and crafted. Worth watching again.
To whoever in my network that worked on this cinematic, congratulations! It is stunning, gorgeous and intriguing. Blizzard has just raised the bar once again for high quality cinematic trailers.
