.@SelectFLA Economic Development Advisory Council (EDAC), chaired by Jennifer Conoley, held its quarterly meeting at the Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience in Palm Beach County. Council members, including Florida state leaders and economic development partners, received executive briefings from key partners including quantum company D-WAVE.

.@SelectFLA Gateways Advisory Council, chaired by Board Member Nick Primrose, convened in Palm Beach County at the Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience, bringing together Florida’s airports, seaports, spaceports and key transportation and logistics partners. The first quarterly meeting for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 featured updates from the @MyFDOT, @SpaceFlorida and @FLACommerce on the state’s Opportunity Zones 2.0 program and the Maritime Industrial Base. Recent missions to the United Kingdom and Taiwan were also spotlighted.

Recently, @SelectFLA met with H.E. Andrei Muraru, Romanian Ambassador to the U.S., and Gabriela Eremia, Consul General of Romania in Miami. The meeting focused on exploring ways to further connect Florida companies and Romanian partners and how Romania can become a point of engagement for Florida.

Earlier this month, the @SelectFLA team met with Benjamin Dubertret, Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs for the Embassy of France in Miami. The meeting focused on expanding the economic relationship between France and Florida including opportunities to strengthen trade and investment ties.

Building on the July’s International Business Development Mission to the United Kingdom, @SelectFLA President and CEO Matt Swanson met with Keith Scott, the new British Consul General in Miami, last Thursday—further strengthening the relationship between the U.K. and Florida.

Last week, @SelectFLA President and CEO Matt Swanson met with Toshio Kii, Chief Executive Director of @JETROUSA Atlanta, to further develop partnerships in workforce training and across key industries including advanced manufacturing and semiconductor-related activity. Japan and Florida share a longstanding economic relationship, strengthened by Memorandums of Cooperation and Understanding, and Sister State agreements that have fostered innovation, talent development and business growth.

At SEMICON Taiwan, @SelectFLA President and CEO Matt Swanson spoke to attendees, highlighting Florida’s advantages in technology, innovation and trade. Florida has positioned itself at the forefront of key industries including quantum technologies and advanced manufacturing.

Yesterday, @SelectFLA leadership met with TEDIBOA (Taiwan Excellence Drone International Business Opportunities Alliance)—the Ministry of Economic Affairs-backed alliance that represents more than 260 drone and component companies. The meeting highlighted Florida’s position in target sectors including aerospace and aviation, military and defense, and advanced manufacturing, as well as the success that a partnership between the two entities would produce.

Today in Taipei, @SelectFLA opened the Florida section in the U.S. Pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan—President and CEO Matt Swanson and the Florida Delegation were joined by U.S. Department of Commerce Executive Director of Semiconductor Investment and Innovation, Bill Frauenhofer and Director of the American Institute in Taiwan, Raymond Greene. Florida’s semiconductor industry generated $2.7 Billion in Florida-Origin Exports in 2025, making Florida the #1 export origin on the U.S. East Coast. On the first day of the International Trade and Business Development Leadership Mission to Taiwan, members of the Florida delegation met with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—building on the sister-state relationship between Taiwan and Florida established in 1992. During the meeting, the group recognized MOFA and TECO Miami’s collaboration though the January 2025 Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Economic and Trade Cooperation established between the @FLACommerce and the Taiwan International Trade Administration. They also discussed opportunities for future collaboration through economic priorities, academic and workforce development exchanges—building stronger industry connections and advancing trade and investment.
