A better approach is for the government to ensure every passenger is issued a ticket, and then reimburse the operator for that ticket.
This way private bus operators also get paid.
TN Govt buses are free for women, so even couples prefer them to save on one ticket.
But look at private buses: diesel, permit taxes, and salaries remain, forcing owners into heavy losses.
They can't even halt services without losing their bus permits!
AIADMK's concession model let both sectors survive.
DMK's was limited
TVK's blanket free town services mean private buses are now running empty.

In her last affidavit in April, her total income for last four years was ₹1.80 crores and now it’s only ₹40.5 lakhs.
After joining TVK with just 12 days as MLA her liabilities gone down by ₹20.0 lakhs. Seems like a very profitable switch. 😂
