I have read the six points carefully. While I understand the frustration behind them, I must respectfully disagree with the framing and the solutions. Point 1: The lack of IDs for South Africans is a failure of Home Affairs' civil registration system, not a result of documenting foreign nationals. These are two separate administrative problems. In fact, a unified biometric system would help both. The Department of Home Affairs itself has admitted its systems are "manual and paper-based." The 2023/24 DHA Annual Report shows that the department is struggling to process billions of rand in revenue and has massive backlogs. The solution to South Africans lacking IDs is fixing Home Affairs, not denying documentation to others. Documenting foreign nationals creates a record that allows the state to track, tax, and manage them, it does not take an ID away from a South African citizen. Point 2: Youth unemployment is a catastrophic crisis, but foreign nationals did not cause it. According to Statistics South Africa, youth unemployment (ages 15–34) was 43.4%, and the expanded rate was even higher. The causes are structural, a failing education system, a stagnant economy, and a labour market that cannot absorb new entrants. Documenting foreign nationals does not create or destroy a single job. In fact, undocumented labour is often exploited by employers who pay below minimum wage, which undercuts local workers. A documented workforce is easier to regulate, which protects local wages and working conditions. Point 3: This R1.2 billion figure is often misrepresented. It typically refers to South Africa's international obligations, such as contributions to the African Union, SADC, or UN peacekeeping missions, not direct cash payments to foreign nationals living here. The lack of ambulances in Ingwavuma and bridges in rural areas is a failure of provincial and national infrastructure spending. According to National Treasury data, billions are lost annually to corruption and irregular expenditure. The problem is not money going to foreigners, it is money being mismanaged and stolen by South Africans in positions of power. Blaming foreigners for collapsed infrastructure is a deflection from the real culprit. CORRUPTION. Point 4: This is a direct contradiction of South Africa's Constitution. Section 9 guarantees equality before the law for everyone in the country. Section 34 guarantees access to courts. The Road Accident Fund (RAF) exists to compensate anyone injured on South African roads, regardless of nationality, because the fund is financed by a levy on fuel, which foreign nationals also pay when they buy petrol. Denying them RAF or Legal Aid would create a two tier system of justice, which is unconstitutional. If you believe the law should change, that is a constitutional amendment debate, not a policy position you can simply declare. Point 5: South Africa's refugee system is governed by the Refugees Act 130 of 1998 and international law. The country does not have a cap on refugees because refugee status is determined by individual persecution claims, not by a quota. The system is broken by administrative failure, not by an overflow of refugees. Point 6: This is a call for economic segregation, which is both unconstitutional and economically harmful. The informal sector, including tuck shops, is a vital part of our economies. Many foreign nationals who run these shops source goods from local wholesalers, pay rent to local landlords, and employ South Africans. Forcing them out would not automatically transfer those businesses to South Africans, it would destroy supply chains and leave empty shops. —
