🚨 5 LAKH FAKE EMAIL IDs. ONE LAPTOP IN A KANPUR VILLAGE. AND A DIGITAL TRAIL LINKED TO BOMB THREATS ACROSS INDIA!
UP ATS has arrested 24-year-old Ankit Shankhwar from Ghatampur, Kanpur, for allegedly running a massive fake email account operation since 2021 and selling bulk accounts to contacts in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Türkiye, Egypt and the US.
The investigation has uncovered a disturbing network. Ankit allegedly created 5 lakh fake email accounts using proxy servers and Wi-Fi networks to conceal identities. He sold complete access packages, including passwords, recovery emails and 2FA backup codes.
THE BOMB THREAT CONNECTION:
🔴 A Bangladeshi national, Alamin Islam, reportedly paid him 6,000 USDT for batches of these accounts.
🔴 An email account allegedly supplied by Ankit was used on October 12 to send threats targeting schools in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram, a Bollywood actor's residence and Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming Delhi-NCR concert.
🔴 Another account recovered from his laptop was allegedly used to send a bomb threat to the Mumbai Mayor's Office on October 23.
Technical investigation reportedly traced the first login of the threat-linked accounts to Kanpur, leading investigators to Ankit.
An FIR has been registered in Lucknow. UP ATS is now seeking police custody remand to investigate his cryptocurrency transactions and establish the intended use of the remaining accounts.
5 lakh accounts, international buyers and bomb threats targeting multiple Indian cities. The investigation could uncover a much bigger digital network.
