Britain has faced much less than Israel and done much worse to counter it.
And it kept the peace for decades afterward by threatening far worse than that even. The general denialism and moral posturing is distasteful to say the least.

The important thing to add here is that it is not an enemy that just disappears after the attack, but one that is theologically committed to continuing such attacks as long as it can, says it will do so, and whose immediate victory galvanizes its broad basis of support elsewhere.

1) Why are they only being printed up now, so long after these men's deaths?
2) Does the fact that a terror organization prints a martyr notice actually (dis)prove anything? Does it change someone's legal status in LOAC?

Question I asked about 9/11 three years ago. I realize this wasn't a scholarly consensus. But was there anyone making this argument? Was it the subject of debate? Do people make the argument now after the term has been so radically redefined?
Refresh my memory: did scholars and activists refer to 9/11 aerial attack on the one of the most densely populated places on earth — and one that actually did target innocent civilians, and on account of their nationality at that — as a "genocide," textbook case or otherwise?

"Collateral damage" is a weird angle to focus on if you genuinely believe there is a genocide, because the very conceptualization of it and calculation of it indicates definitively that there is no genocide.

Calculating the collateral damage of a proposed military action isn't some bloodthirsty ritual, it is a requirement of the laws of armed combat (proportionality), something civilized armies do, but terrorists and genocidaires do not.

The thirst for war confessional artifacts in the post-Christian inquisition never extends to the home armies of the post-Christian west. And it certainly never extends to Israel's enemies.
I think about this whenever I encounter some new exhibit or documentary with the "testimonies" of Israelis who fought in this war or that. Do the Arabs who fight Israel also have testimonies, tortured memories, moral dilemmas? If yes, why the lack of interest? If no, why not?
